62-Year-Old Man Found Guilty of Hitting a Juvenile on a Bike While Driving Under the Influence
Press release from the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office:
Yesterday, a jury found 62-year-old David Ervin Gunderson guilty of driving under the influence causing injury. The jury also found true the special allegations that the defendants blood alcohol concentration was over .15% and that he inflicted great bodily injury on a juvenile victim. The charges resulted from an incident on September 30, 2017 on Central Avenue in McKinleyville. Mr. Gunderson was driving with a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit when he struck a juvenile on a bicycle, causing serious injuries. Deputy District Attorney Steven Steward prosecuted the case with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Adam Jager. The juvenile victim, California Highway Patrol Officer Phil Price, California Department of Justice Criminalist Dale Cloutier, Dr. Lois Cook, and an eyewitness testified at trial. The District Attorney’s Office appreciates the contributions of the witnesses and jury to justice in this case. Sentencing is scheduled for March 5th, 2018 at 8:30 am; Mr. Gunderson faces a maximum possible sentence of 7 years in state prison.

I find it interesting that the press release states only the maximum possible sentence. I wonder what the minimum possible sentence is and where in the possible range the actual sentence will be. Will there actually be any prison time? Will it be county jail time instead? Will he be incarcerated at all?
Sentenced March 5th to 270 days county jail by visiting judge Graham Cribbs.
Kinda confused…the press release starts out saying David ErVin and then later refers to him as Gunderson. Was something left off some where?
Apparently, I somehow dropped Gunderson from the first line. His full name is David Ervin Gunderson. I’ve fixed the problem.
Guess he didn’t get Marci’s lawyer
Marcie’s lawyer just lost the Lively murder case and he’s gonna lose the kitchens case also. Weasel
As of November, defense attorneys for Marcy Kitchen are Ben Okin and Patrik Griego. The defense attorney for Eric Lively is Russ Clanton.
For what it’s worth I’m pretty sure they are partners and work out of the same building
Okin has his own offices on O Street in Eureka. Griego works for Janssen and Malloy on 5th. Russ Clanton has his own offices in Arcata. Maybe they are somehow affiliated but I’m not aware of it.
You just got fact checked Jack.
IS this the old blue lake police chief?
You aren’t thinking of Gunderson?
Gundy rules!
Traveled miles to enforce laws, shake and quake!
Nothing a doper with cash and illegal dope and weapons feared more than Gundy is outside and is wondering why you haven’t been kicking up.
If I was President, I’d give Gundy a few missile frigates, aircraft carrier, Marine Recon Division, Air Force wing with the neutron bomb, a couple armored divisions from the army to command, and order him to clean up The Triangle.
Once that was done I’d prolly order him to nuke Eugene, Oregon for being weirdos with so many porn shops and strip clubs.
Gundy would make a great Vice President, maybe he’ll run one day, I’d vote for him.
Anyone that doesn’t like Gundy is prolly a neo hippie that has only seen a firearm through Hollywood.
Great man, great part of Humboldt/Triangle history…..
Great man, fine cop, just misunderstood — cocksucker pulled a gun on me and my girl outside our residence in Blue Lake around 2006. Walked out the door to find Gundy with his sidearm drawn and pointed right at me. For no reason. Said someone from our residence called 911 (landline). Then stated “I guess your dogs dialed it” and casually drove off. First and only time I had a bead drawn on me. Is that dirtbag still alive??
Nope. Different middle name.
So, is this person David Ervin or Gunderson? The article seems to use their names interchangeably.
My error. Fixed.
It’s apparently David Ervin Gunderson. David Ray Gundersen was the sheriff , this guy’s last name is spelled differently but it is tempting close.
Gundy might drive over a neo hippie, but not a child….
Libs trying to ruin a good name with a remarkable history in fighting The Marijuana Caliphate and rooting them from their holes.
Why is the driver’s name David Ervin in the first paragraph then changes to Gunderson?
So not machine gun Gundersen?
Not the person who is a great man in the struggle against The Marijuana Caliphate……
Once the last weed plant is chopped and the last grower leaves The Triangle, I will raise money for a statue of Gundy to be built in Arcata’s plaza, unless it’s become a Home Depot.
Gundy went above and beyond in the struggle against The Caliphate and deserves The Plaze to be renamed Gundy Square with a statue.
This is going to happen once The Marijuana Caliphate is defeated and driven away.
I’m waiting for the post on Kym’s site of the new statue and how The Plaza is renamed, because the community for hundreds of square miles is free of The Marijuana Caliphate.
Gundy is at the very least a regional hero and may very well become a national one, with a statue on The White House lawn after marijuana is eradicated in The United States.
I would like to see April 20th made a national holiday called, Gundy Day where people celebrate by smashing Volkswagon vans and burning them in town squares all over the nation. Gundy’s values should be taught in schools and anyone convicted of marijuana possession should be sentenced to a tattoo of handcuffs on their wrists with wording of, ‘ Gundy Got Me ‘, to further spread his message.
Gundy is one of the most important historical figures in Triangle History…..
bla,bla, bla,
how much money did they catch him stealing? how many stolen full auto weapons ? and how many non grower folks did he shake down ? yeah such a great hero
The former BL Chief’s last name ended in -en not -on i.e. Gundersen not Gunderson.
