[UPDATE 6:51 p.m.] Law Enforcement and Ambulance Struggled to Get Through Traffic Accident on Hwy 36 to Reach Victim of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound
A traffic collision at 6:08 p.m. on Barber Shop Lane knocked down power lines and these temporarily kept law enforcement and the ambulance from reaching the side of the victim.
As of 6:40 p.m., deputies with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and an ambulance are struggling to get to the victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound near Swains Flat off of Hwy 36. Meanwhile, other emergency personnel are setting up a landing zone for a medical helicopter off of Hwy 36 at mile marker 16.24.
UPDATE 6:51 p.m.: A coroner had been requested. The helicopter has been canceled.

Dam it 🙁
So so sad, this is the 2nd one this week. What is going on?
Didn’t catch the other one, was it in the news too?
[edit]
Wait is the linked story similar to the traffic accident or the other part? Kinda unclear
My apologies. I’m functioning on 1 and a half hour of sleep. I replied to the wrong thread.
So sad. We keep losing people. Please, everyone, if you know someone who is hurting, depressed, giving their possessions away, help them any way you can. Please.
There’s so many people out there begging for help and to many people who don’t want to get involved because it’s not their problem.
Until we bring back mental health resources, this will continue to happen. Every 7 mins….
Most people who are treated with pharmaceuticals risk possible side effects
that can create worse problems like suicide or murder.
This is the real drug culture, not herbs.
A sad situation in all respects.
For those of you out there struggling with depression, every 4th Wednesday of the month the Southern Humboldt Depression Support Group meets at the Healy Senior Center in Redway from 5:30-6:30pm. This is a group started by community memebers and no government agency is involved. It’s free, anonymous, and open to all ages. We are a friendly, welcoming and non-judgemental group and are here to help.
This info should be shared widely, maybe posted on facebook or something.
If someone would like to send me a press release, I could post it. This highlights the need for me to have a calendar.
