[UPDATE] Rescuers Rush to Vehicle With Man and Infant Inside That Crashed Into Coffee Creek Near Ferndale

Breaking news graphicA vehicle went into Coffee Creek off Coffee Creek Road near Ferndale at approximately 6:10 p.m. Two people, one man and one infant, are trapped according to information on the scanner. Eel River Technical Rescue and Ferndale Fire, as well as other agencies, are responding.

UPDATE 6:27 p.m.: Dispatch is canceling the Technical Rescue team. All patients are out of the vehicle, reports the Incident Commander. An ambulance and Ferndale Fire are on the scene.

UPDATE 6:30 p.m.: “No medical team needed,” reports emergency personnel over the scanner.

UPDATE 6:31 p.m.: “All Ferndale units are clear of the scene,” reports personnel from the scene.

UPDATE 6:50 p.m.: The vehicle went into a flooded area of Coffee Creek Road and got stuck. The male and the infant were able to get out.

UPDATE 7:09 p.m.: “Water is halfway up on vehicle,” according to information on the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.

My Mothers’ VW would just float across deep puddles like that.
Of course, that was in the 60’s, when it was only 5 years old……..

I’m hoping for their sake as well as the overall health of the Creek, that they got the vehicle out of the creek by now!!! Otherwise I’m certain it’s MORE than half way submerged by now as much as it is raining out there!!!
