Man Allegedly Takes Woman’s Keys During Domestic Dispute; Search Yields Metal Knuckles, Says Sheriff’s Office

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

David Curtis Hostler,Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Mill Creek Rd. in Hoopa on Jan. 13, 2018 around 12:04 a.m. to assist Hoopa Valley Tribal Police with a domestic dispute.

Tribal Police Officers informed deputies that the suspect, David Curtis Hostler, 56, had reportedly taken the victim’s vehicle keys and refused to let her inside the residence. The officers knocked on the front door of the residence several times without answer.

A sheriff’s deputy walked to the rear of the residence and located Hostler standing behind a bush. Hostler returned the victim’s keys. During a search of Hostler, deputies located metal knuckles, drug paraphernalia and a small bag of Alprazolam.

Hostler was arrested on the following charges: possession of metal knuckles, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
