J Boog Performing at Mateel on May 25th

This is a press release from the Mateel:

The Mateel and Ineffable Live present Grammy nominated Island Reggae artist J Boog with special guests I-Octane & Westafa, Friday, May 25th at the Mateel Community Center, 59 Rusk Lane in Redway.  Doors are at 8pm, show time is 9pm for this all ages show.  Tickets are on sale now at mateel.org for $30 in advance, $40 day of show.

Part of the next generation of Reggae from outside of Jamaica, J Boog  comes originally from Compton, California and his Samoan cultural background influences his Pacific Island Reggae sound. Performing some of the most soaring, perfectly pitched vocals and intricate phrasing on the scene today along with the support of the mighty Hot Rain band, his release Rose Petals was nominated for a Grammy in the Reggae category for 2016. Well-produced originals showcased the more soulful side of his music on the set, evoking the style and arrangements of Stevie Wonder.   J Boog’s latest single is “Break Us Apart” released in August, 2017.

Since his debut EP 2011 release: Backyard Boogie produced by Jamaican hitmaker Don Corleone, his distinctive tone and songwriting have taken him to stages around the globe, garnering him an ever growing fanbase of listeners. A frequent collaborator with other artists and producers in the industry, his vocals can be found on tracks by Morgan Heritage, Tarrus Riley, Fiji, SOJA and more.

Songs like “Sunshine Girl” with Peetah Morgan, “Waiting On the Rain” “Every Little Thing” as well as his first boomshot hit “Let’s Do It Again” explore romance from the male perspective. Heavier topics are covered with an ear to the street and his real life experience growing up combined with a sincere sense of justice on songs like “Let It Blaze” and “Low the Gunz”. His most recent full length album Wash House Ting came out in late 2016. J Boog appeared at the 2017 staging of Reggae on the River, his third time at the iconic Humboldt County event.

What happened to Country Music ? I have had enough of rap. Like Miles Davis said in an interview with Rolling Stone Mag. Rap is not music.

Where did the good music go?

Why has the Mateel NOT complied with the State Attorney General and Registry of Charitable Trusts demand letter and submitted the required audits and financial reports for 2014, 2015 & 2016?

If the Mateel is so broke, how is it they grossed over $2 Million dollars each year starting in 2014 that triggered the audits from the State and caused their Delinquent status? Which does not allow them:

“A delinquent organization may not engage in any activity for which registration is
required, including solicitation of charitable assets.”

Maybe the MCC Board and Staff can pull their heads out of the river bar long enough to explain this to the public?
