Guardrail Damaged on 101 Under the Sunset Avenue Overcrossing by Traffic Collision

At approximately 1:11 p.m. about 20 feet of guardrail was damaged when a Honda struck a section on northbound Hwy 101 near the Sunset Avenue overcrossing in Arcata. According to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page, about 20 feet of guardrail including four to five posts were destroyed.

The CHP page says only one vehicle was involved.

  • Looks like the guardrail may have prevented the vehicle from running into the cement pillar. Good thing it was there!

    Yes, it looks like the rail prevented collision with the pillar. Very good. Any example of crappy driving is legitimate news. I assume no . . . .ache is young and immortal. Doesn’t understand that anybody who runs into the guardrail could have run into him/her causing destruction, injury and death. Doh, who knew?
