The Humboldt Holiday Food Drive is December 13 from 4 to 6 p.m.

This is a press release from State Senator Mike McGuire:

Dear Neighbor,

For many of us, the holidays represent the time of year where we come together with friends and family to celebrate, spend time with each other and share a meal.

That said, there are thousands in Humboldt County who work paycheck to paycheck and struggle to put food on the table, let alone serve up a hot holiday meal for their families.

We can help our neighbors in need by coming together in the late afternoon and evening of December 13 in support of Food For People, Humboldt County’s Food Bank.

Here are the details:

What: All you need to do is swing by the Eureka Safeway – on your way home from work – and drop off some canned or dried food and we’ll take care of the rest. Monetary donations are also accepted and 100 percent will be invested in Food for People.

And if you can’t drive up, you can always click here to donate online!

When: Wednesday, December 13, from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.

Where: Eureka Safeway, 2555 Harris Street in Eureka. And if you can’t drive up, you can always click here to donate securely online!

Prizes: To celebrate your good deed, we’ll have prizes every hour thanking folks for their generous donations.

Last year, thanks to the amazing generosity of hundreds of neighbors, we collected 3,000 pounds of food. This year, with your help, we want to double down and fill the pantry shelves at Food for People with 6,000 pounds of food!

Please join us as we help Humboldt’s hungriest – and please spread the word and bring at least three of your neighbors!

Warmest regards,

Mike McGuire
