Minor Theatre Showing Live Broadcasts of The Metropolitan Opera Starting January 27

This is a press release from the Minor Theatre:

JAN 27th, 2018. The Minor Theatre is set to bring live HD broadcasts of The Metropolitan Opera to it’s main screen, connecting Arcata with the 2000+ audiences in over 70 countries across the globe. The first performance will be Puccini’s Tosca on Saturday, January 27th, with encore screenings the following Wednesday.

Minor Theatre owner Josh Neff remarked, “This town has spawned at least two national opera singers in the last decade alone, it’s with great pleasure that we were able to secure these outstanding broadcasts, and we hope the community will enjoy them.” As part of it’s commitment to making the highest quality arts and entertainment available to all, the Minor plans to set aside passes for local arts and youth organizations at no cost.

“Opera is the ultimate art, combining several art forms in one, transcendent music, great story telling, consummate acting, and over the top visual imagery, and these broadcasts are the perfect, low-risk, inexpensive way to introduce a reluctant opera goer to the art form.” -Serge Scherbatskoy, owner of Café Brio and a sponsor of the broadcasts in Arcata.

“For Opera buffs who make the long and expensive trek to San Francisco or New York to see opera in person, the broadcasts offer a whole different dimension and experience not possible when one is in the audience” says Eureka Symphony violinist, Julie Fulkerson.

General Admission tickets for the 2017-18 MET Opera Season will be up for sale, online and at the Minor Theatre box office, just in time for the Holidays early next month. While a very limited number of VIP season passes are available now- inquire to [email protected]
