[UPDATE 10:40 a.m.] Juvenile Trying to Elude Law Enforcement Along 101 Near Loleta

About 8:45 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a juvenile with a knife barricaded in a home in the Singley Hill area. When law enforcement showed up on the scene, the juvenile fled the home. The Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol began trying to find and contain the juvenile.

The youth fled wearing a white hoodie into the bushes along Hwy 101. Law enforcement is currently in the area searching. Law enforcement hasn’t had time to investigate the situation so remember the details reported here while accurate to what is coming over the scanner may not be a complete story.

UPDATE 9:16 a.m.: There is a second juvenile male with the first. There was some concern that the second youth might be in some danger from the first. However, law enforcement is no longer concerned.

UPDATE 10:40 a.m.: Law enforcement determined that no crime had been committed and the juveniles are safe, according to Samantha Karges, spokesperson for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
