Michael Furniss Giving Lecture About ‘Sea Level Rise: A Slow Motion Flood’ at Redwood Playhouse on December 3
This is a press release from the Lost Coast Interpretive Association:
Sea Level Rise: A Slow Motion Flood is the topic of a free lecture by Michael Furniss, sponsored by Lost Coast Interpretive association on Sunday, December 3rd at 3 pm at the Redwood Playhouse in Garberville.
Come learn about how sea level works, why it matters, what we may expect, and what you can do. During the last 6,000 years, earth has enjoyed a period of stable sea level and a stable climate. This stable period is now dramatically ending due to climate change: we are in the midst of a “slow-motion flood.” What does this mean for Humboldt County, and other coastal communities across the globe?
Michael Furniss is an engaging and entertaining speaker who has worked in 14 countries on climate change vulnerability assessment and education. He is broadly educated and worked for the US Forest Service for 33 years where he won a number of awards. He is currently the principal at M.J. Furniss and Associates.
Lost Coast Interpretive Association is a member of the King Range Alliance in Partnership with the BLM King Range National Conservation Area.

Maybe it will slow down the draining of our fresh water rivers that Governor Brown has been so determined to do.
There is an entire coastal aquatic system that these guys are ignoring,
Aldaron, Furniss, Kalt et al, please protect our coastal wetlands as seen here;
Humboldt GIS, National Wetlands Inventory and California Aquatic Resources Inventory.
The wetlands west of Manila are being destroyed by veg removal and overuse, where are
the reports? Four ponds and acres of marsh already destroyed. And this in Gold Bluffs Beach,
550 acres of ESHA annihilated, Pages 10 and 11 for before and after.

I imagine one thing to get very flooded will be that new and very expensive Humboldt Bay “Trail” (really more of a paved road)?
The article is about a free lecture to help people understand what is going on with our planet. Maybe ya’ll can try and appreciate that?
Thank You.
I had the pleasure to work with Mike on a few Forest Service contracts in the Smith River area in the early 80s. He is a very interesting guy.
I AM SATAN AND I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE.
So the sea level has dropped over the last 2 decades even al gore is ashamed of these facts. Remember when he told coastal, communities in florida to,sell their beachfront homes? Funny part is selling just makes it someone elses problem and a jerk move! Who even sais this sort of crap?
The sea level is rising rapidly, according to scientists. https://news.nationalgeographic.com/2017/07/sea-level-rise-flood-global-warming-science/
