Chai is Looking for a Forever Home

A concerned reader emailed us about this dog that’s listed on Petharbor.com. If you know someone who can help get him/her into a forever home, please pass this along to them.

I am a spayed female, red and white Pit Bull Terrier mix. The shelter thinks I am about 3 years old. I have been at the shelter since Aug 21, 2017.

Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:

Chai is a beautiful, medium sized Pit Bull mix who is looking for a home to call her own. Ms. Chai came into the shelter as a “stray” and since then, she has blossomed into a confident and athletic girl! Chai is extremely toy and treat motivated, which makes her easy to train. She does already know basic commands such as “sit” and “down” but is eager to learn new things. What the staff noticed about Chai is that she likes other dogs, however does need a proper introduction before wanting to play. Chai is energetic and can run circles around just any person or dog she has met so far. We don’t want to scare you off, as Chai does eventually calm down, but we just need to mention how full of life she is! Chai is a dog that will brighten each day and will bring much happiness to her new family. Does Chai seem like the perfect dog for you? Call or come into the shelter and meet her soon!

It’s been like that for a long time now.. full of pits and pit crosses. It’s not growers as much as a culture here where people think pit bulls are cool, and then they grow up and get hard to handle and they end up in shelter. Way too common. I’m not in favor of govt regulation very often but there should be a law that pit bulls and associated breeds should be required to get spayed or an expensive breeding license required.

Maybe the owners should be required to pass an aptitude test (rather than simply pay a license fee) to weed out the inept. Same could be said for having children…
