[UPDATE: Still in Shelter] MELI: Can You Help Get This Girl Into A Forever Home?
A concerned reader emailed us about this dog that’s listed on Petharbor.com. If you know someone who can help get her into a forever home, please pass this along to them.
I am an unaltered female, fawn and white Anatolian Shepherd. My age is unknown. I have been at the shelter since Oct 30, 2017.
For more information about this animal, call:
Humboldt County Sheriff’s Animal Shelter at (707) 840-9132
Ask for information about animal ID number A084429
There are several other dogs that need to be adopted that are listed on petharbor.com. If you’d like to check them out, follow this link: http://petharbor.com/
UPDATE 7:30 a.m.: Owner located.
UPDATE Thursday: According to Andre Hale, Humboldt County Animal Control and Facilities Manager, “Meli was brought in as a stray from Hwy 36 in Garberville on 10/30/17 with another dog. The owner was identified and came and got the second dog but did not retrieve Meli. They said that they would come back for her but never did.”

It says on the link the owners were located?
Yes! We just learned that ourselves. That’s the best outcome of all.
yay!!
they don’t sound like great owners if they didn’t bother checking the shelter until now.
Kim what you do for the animals it’s so wonderful what a good person you are
It took the owner from OCt 30th until now to call the shelter?
Who does not chip their animals these days? Some people should not own animals!
Not all people who own or is are owned by animals is financially able to have their pe(s)t??? chipped unfortunately
Thats my point, If you cannot afford the animal you should not have it. Pets are expensive if you do not have some cash in the bank for an emergency vet appt then you should not get an animal you cannot take care of properly.
Same for cars. If you can’t afford insurance and regular maintenance including tires, headlights and taillights, you can’t afford a car.
Agreed.
Best outcome possible!!!
Great news!
Tho like others, wonder what took them so long to find their dog.
Kym i know you do too much already, but am gonna ask, is their a way to have a permanent link available to humboldt paws cause, petharbor, the shelters facebook page and redwood pals? I guess that could open a floodgate for links, but maybe there are still people who dont know about them.
They might not have waited long. It might be that no one updated the post to show the owners were located.
She’s STILL in the shelter??? WTF happened I thought she was claimed!!! Di the “Owner” change his/her mind or????
Meli is still in need of a foster home as of December 8, 2017. No livestock / no cat home needed.
