Firefighters Stop Blaze From Spreading in Two Story Victorian This Evening
Press release from Humboldt Bay Fire:
At 6:44 PM. this evening, Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a structure fire in a two story Victorian residence with three engines, one ladder truck, one squad and two chief officers. The first arriving unit found smoke coming from a second story bedroom window. Arriving crews were assigned to search the structure and extinguish the fire that was found on the second floor as well as to protect belongings with salvage covers on the first floor. The fire was confined to the bedroom. The fire was contained within fifteen minutes and crew remained on scene for one and a half hours.
Residents of the structure were home at the time of the fire and made it outside to safety.
The cause of the fire was found to be storage of linen to close to a metal chimney.
Arcata Fire Protection District provided station coverage for Humboldt Bay during the fire.
Fifteen Firefighters responded to control the fire with no injuries reported.
