The Mateel Community Center’s Annual Membership Meeting is November 21st

This is a press release from the Mateel Community Center:

The Mateel Community Center’s annual membership meeting is Tuesday, November 21st at the Mateel Community Center hall in Redway. Doors open at 5:30pm and the meeting will be called to order at 6:00pm. There will be an introduction of the board, a variety of annual committee reports, information on the Be A Mateel Rainmaker fundraising campaign and a member comment opportunity. The board will update the membership on the current financial impasse and provide new information.  The annual membership meeting offers members the opportunity to nominate candidates for the upcoming board election.

For those wishing to become members, you’ll get a newsletter emailed to you each month to let you know what’s going on at your community center and discounts to Mateel-produced events. Once you have been a member for at least one year, you’ll have a vote in the Board of Directors elections and you’ll feel more a part of your community, knowing that you’re supporting excellent arts and activity programs for kids and events and services that we provide to the community at large!

Don’t miss the Mateel annual membership meeting on Tuesday, November 21st at 5:30pm.

Sad to see the mateel go broke and close down soon. We all know its going to happen and dont want to accept it. Its just to big of a place with to much staff and upkeep. Its to bad that the mateel didnt utilize some land for a legal grow to create revenue. Everyone thought the cash cow was going to be milked forever. The cow is dead and here you are pulling on them cold dead tits. Theres no more milk! Dont make it harder than it has to be. Salvage what you can and keep on groovin! Mive on to greener pastures and find a new cow

Nicely put. People are in denial, its human nature to think other people they respect would never take advantage of them. But in the case of the MCC, it happens every day and twice on Sunday; as it does at many other so called community service organizations, groups and so called nonprofits in SoHum. It’s a very tribal thing and unless you are in the tribe, you are out!

Unfortunately it’s the culture of a black market underground economy. But hey, you are what you eat, or in this case, what you grow and sell.

I would not be so vocal concerning the MCC if they kept to themselves in their club house. However, they allow their hypocritical BS to degrade the South Fork Eel almost every year, all in the name of their culture, only thinking of money, not the river or its wildlife habitat. When was the last time the MCC defended the South Fork Eel?
