Mateel Community Center Invites You to Donate to Their Crowdfunding Page
This is a press release from the Mateel Community Center:
The Mateel has fostered arts in rural Northern California for four decades, touching the lives of many in the community and beyond. Imagine what it would be like if our doors closed. Serving as the cultural hub of the Southern Humboldt community, we provide arts, educational, and social service programs, and present a variety of musical, theatrical, dance, comedy, film, craft, and rental events- earning our non-profit organization international acclaim.
The Mateel Community Center is facing financial hardship and in order to sustain our mission we are embarking on a fundraising journey. Over the next several weeks we invite you to take part in the launch of a crowdfunding page and more tools that will help us spread the word through your personal network.
Let’s make this year’s #GivingTuesday November 28th benefit your community non-profit organization. The Mateel is people-powered in many ways, and together we can meet this challenge. • Click here for the crowdfunding page link

Pray!
Why would anyone donate to this organization which has proved it cannot handle money?
The individuals who borrowed beyond the means to repay are responsible and should step up.
I’ll say this for the MCC Board & Staff, you sure have a gifted sales and marketing department!
You stated above: “Serving as the cultural hub of the Southern Humboldt community, we provide arts, educational, and social service programs”
Did you forget you did away with your only community “social services program”, aka the Mateel Meal?
And, according to the Community Park Board, they provide farm fresh produce to supplement the Mateel Meal for approx 205 individuals served per week and 5,125 individuals meals per year (page 24 of 39):

So why would you bite the hand that feeds you? Why did you not want Calfresh funding for you Mateel Meal; it paid for allot at the MCC, including the operation, staff and food cost of the Mateel Meal…
So many people have given so much already, only to find it has been pissed away through poor management. Asking for more is a slap in the face.
Here’s the new video from the MCC, asking the public for money:

It’s narrated by Agnes Patak; besides giving her personal resume and hundreds of hours she has volunteered, I do have a question for her concerning what she stated:
Can she or the MCC share how they bring awareness to, i.e. saving old growth Redwood, culture and struggles of indigenous people and saving salmon in their own backyard, e.g. South Fork Eel watershed?
What is the MCC’s public record on defending these issues? And not one word about the Mateel Meal!
