NOVEMBER EDITION: MATEEL COMEDY CABARET – Make Me Laugh!

Loosely based on the vintage 1970’s television game show “Make Me Laugh” in which contestants watched stand up comedians perform earning points for every second that they could make it without laughing. The modern day version has become wildly popular and the Mateel Comedy Cabaret hosts Make Me Laugh with improvisational Jazz duo No Covers opening up the cabaret with their spectacular compositions. Next, the comedians have their turns to show the audience how funny they are. Volunteers from the audience are then brought on stage as contestants to give each of the comedians 60 seconds to try to make them laugh while they try to hold in their laughter. Those who hold out the longest get fun prizes!  It’s a cut throat competition that nobody takes seriously at all.

If you think you have what it takes to hold out or would like to watch other people try, you are in for a wildly funny night. Its comedian vs. contestant in a battle of wit and will and a ridiculous amount of fun! Special guest comedians include Josh Barnes from Eureka, Trevor Rogers from Santa Cruz, and Anica Cihla from Seattle, Jessica Grant and Tony Persico are the hosts for this edition of the Mateel Comedy Cabaret, at Mateel Community Center, Friday, November 10th, doors open at 8pm show starts at 8:30pm, $10 cover at the door.

Nice. I have a few suggestions, Mateel folks, I know your reading…

How about the Mongolian musicians again this winter? Both Mongolian bands brought out a good crowd. They were awesome. And maybe Salsa/Cumbia nights with a simple menu? Folk/bluegrass nights? Modern Kletzmer/Roma/EE- Like Fishtank? Eastern European choir music? Celtic music? Ska? Surf? Country vocalists (Zoe Muth?), South African Hilife? Grunge with a following (the Sturgeons again?), Chamber music? The hall has excellent acoustics for string quartets I would think.
