At approximately 4:30 p.m., a piece of equipment, reportedly a silage chopper, caught fire off of Waddington Road in a Ferndale cornfield.

According to witnesses, a Cal Fire plane (the white spot in the sky in the photo to the right), circled overhead and three engines  arrived to put out the flames.

The fire is now out.
