In Leggett we have no cell phone service and our land lines will only let us call in town here. We are cut off except for those of us who have wi fi. The smoke is really bad. I was wondering if any of the powers that be even know. I realize that this is minor compared to all the horrific current events, however we can’t get help if we need it. This is a bit scary!
It is indeed. I hope that you can get help if needed. Do you know any ham radio operators? They frequently belong to groups who organize to ensure communication in energencies.
The City of Eureka would like to notify its residents and customers that our phone system is currently down. The issue is due to a large-scale AT&T outage that is affecting many businesses and residents in the area. If you need to report an urgent problem like a major water or sewer leak or traffic hazard, please call Eureka Police Department’s business line at 707-441-4044. As always, please dial 9-1-1 only in the event of a true emergency.
The City e-mail system is up. Residents may also send an e-mail using our web-site atwww.ci.eureka.ca.gov Please click on “report an issue”.
I am sure if you need help, and no other option to get it post here and someone will attempt to call people for you, make sure you post all important info ie what is the emegercy type , location and the best way to attempt to reach you. We can all help each other out.
Nice…ditto.
For future combined landline/cell breakdown events, folks should consider completing HAM radio training/certification, taught locally by Southern Humboldt Amateur Radio Club(SHARC).
How do we sign up to learn ham radio?
& i would think our local radio stations have updates. We need the way kmud did it, where there are set times daily for fire updates.

I’ve seen that before and haven’t found it helpful. Am I missing something?
It is GIS based and hence you can toggle on/off various layers, as well as zoom into to select areas with topographic data and better road labeling etc. I’m also assuming it it updated on a regular basis.
can anyone tell me if it is in Willits or is it still safe there? thank you
No, it is not in Willits. Here are the latest maps. https://kymkemp.com/2017/10/13/31-confirmed-dead-in-wildfires-that-broke-out-earlier-this-week-maps/
