[Open]Hwy 20 Closed Due to Fire
As of 4 a.m., Hwy 20 at Sulfur Banks Road east of Clearlake Oaks will be closed due to a fire that is currently burning homes in that area. Wind-driven fires are currently burning across many areas of Northern California. Here is our coverage of the Redwood Complex in Mendocino which has closed Hwy 101 and here is our coverage of fires in across Sonoma and Napa, etc.
According to Clearlake Police, “Mandatory Evacuations for 2nd St to 17th St, and San Joaquin to Windflower Point, Burns Valley Area to Smith Lane in Clearlake due to Fire..Advisory Evacations Reed Lane to Smith Lane…Shelter is at Twin Pine Casino in Middletown.”
UPDATE 8:21 a.m.: Hwy 20 is open. Sulfur Banks Road is closed at 20.

Caltrans Quickmap which is pretty accurate M-F 8-5 shows that it is. I use it all the time. http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ It is less effective in the off hours but still one of the best tools available.
