CAL FIRE Conducting Prescribed Burns in Centerville and Bridgeville Areas this Week

This is a press release from CAL FIRE:

cal fireFORTUNA – The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Humboldt – Del Norte Unit will be conducting Prescribed Burns under Vegetation Management Plans (VMP) in the Centerville and Bridgeville areas this week.  The Ferndale prescribed burn is scheduled to occur on October 1, 2017 and the Bridgeville burn will occur on October 2-3, 2017.

CAL FIRE utilizes prescribed fire to restore natural processes, manage exotic plants and conifers encroaching into prairie and oak woodland plant communities, and to reduce fuel accumulations on the landscape.

During these prescribed fire operations, residents may see an increase in fire suppression resource traffic, smoke will be visible and traffic control may be in place. Please be cautious for your safety as well as those working on the prescribed burns.

For further information, please contact Paul Savona at (707) 725-4413.

Residents are reminded that there is an outdoor burn suspension in effect due to the threat of wildfire.  Learn more how you can prepare for wildfire by visiting www.ReadyForWidlfire.org.
