[UPDATE 4:06 p.m.] Hit and Run Collision in Fortuna

A bicyclist was struck but fortunately not injured by a white Toyota sedan with dealer plates just before 4 p.m. today. The incident occurred in front of the Texaco in Fortuna. The vehicle left the scene and law enforcement is searching for it now.

UPDATE 4:06 p.m.: The vehicle is believed to be a Toyota Camry with the front bumper falling off, according to traffic on the scanner.

Right?! I swear at some point there will be an actual legal ruling dubbed the Marci Kitchen law, kinda like the Rico statute thing, where you can hit and run and not go to prison.

was it a tweeker biker? Was he wearing a helmet? Toyota probably didn’t see him when he was turning right onto the blvd. However, the driver is guilty for hit and run. Let’s find that Toyota.

Crime stopper, why does it matter if the bicyclist was wearing a helmet? Adults are not required to wear helmets. Are you somehow trying to blame the bicyclist for the collision for which the driver chose to flee from?

The car should be easy to track down through sales data, still having dealer plates and all.
I hope the driver turns them self in. Taking full responsibility is the only way to comfort the soul.

There was a totally weird accident in strong creek mall yesterday, involving at least 4 cars and a lamppost, and I’ve seen nothing about that. Curious. Any news?
