[UPDATE Wednesday] Large Fire Near Hopland

Fire near HOpland

A large wildland fire is burning north of Hopland. [Photo by Jonathan Beck]

Currently, two structures are threatened by 40-acre fire burning near Hwy 101 north of Hopland at approximately 1:38 p.m. One southbound lane of 101 is closed.

The fire started at approximately 12:37 p.m.

UPDATE 1:44 p.m.: Cal Fire reported about 10 minutes ago, “#GrapeFire Update: approximately 40 acres with 2 structures threatened.”

UPDATE 2:13 p.m.:

UPDATE 3:10 p.m.: According to scanner traffic, the Grape Fire, as this is called is now 100 acres.

UPDATE 3:30 p.m.: Cal Fire tweeted, “[A]pprox 100 acres-personal at scene-8 aircraft-12 Engines-4 Crews-4 Water Tenders-8 Chief Officers-2 Dozers.”
UPDATE 3:31 p.m.: Caltrans and CHP are no longer showing that one lane of 101 is closed.

UPDATE 3:55 p.m.: Another video provided by a reader.

UPDATE 4:35 p.m.: Cal Fire tweets that they still have 0% containment on this blaze.

UPDATE 5:42 p.m.: Cal Fire tweets that a shift in wind has helped firefighters and the fire is now 40% contained.
UPDATE 7:04 p.m.: Cal Fire tweeted, that the Grape Fire is “now 135 acres & 60% contained.”

UPDATE 7:11 p.m.: Cal Fire tweeted at 7:09 a.m., “#GrapeFire [update] off Hwy 101 & Crawford Ranch Rd, Hopland (Mendocino County) is now 135 acres & 90% contained.”

Hopland is in lake county [edit] lake as in large body of water

Hopland is closer to clear lake than it is to ykiah as far as water gos it comes from lake county

And stright to Napa the water for hopland and geyserville comes from highland spring res south west lake county to south east mendo

Oak woodland needs to burn every so often.Destroyed most of
them for grapes.
