Buck Fire Shasta Trinity Forest

Buck Fire at approximately 5:00 p.m. September 13, 2017

One of the Lightning Fires that started yesterday grew quickly today to 50 acres and a large column of smoke from it can be seen from Southern Humboldt. The fire is burning in the Shasta Trinity Forest near Black Rock Mountain north of the Yolla Bolly-Middle Eel Wilderness Area. It is already at 50 acres and in difficult to access terrain. The good news is it isn’t near any structures. The main effect is likely to be smoke for those in Southern Humboldt and Trinity Counties.

Below is a press release from the Shasta-Trinity National Forest describing a number of the new fires that started yesterday.

Current Fire Situation: Lightning moved through the area during the afternoon and evening hours of September 12 and ignited several new fires across the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Forest officials and firefighters are closely monitoring and responding to these new fires.

Below we have listed each fire by the time the fire was reported, the name given to the fire, the approximate location and estimated fire size (if known) and response activity initiated. Any large fires will have a new “incident” page started in InciWeb:

you can also see the smoke from the Buck fire from 36 coming up to Platina, Some choppers headed that way from the Helena fire today. Not many roads on that side of the forest.

>”Not many roads on that side of the forest.”

Yup. Might as well tell that to Huffman.
No roads = forest burns.

Enjoy.
