Press release from the office of Senator Mike McGuire:

In response to the devastating Helena Fire that has hit the community of Junction City, Senator Mike McGuire, The Humboldt Area Foundation, the County of Trinity, the Trinity Journal and Humboldt County Supervisor Rex Bohn have come together to establish the Trinity County Fire Relief Fund.
“The Helena Fire has taken a tremendous toll on the hard working people of Junction City and Trinity County, but this tragic event is also mobilizing neighbors to help Trinity in one of their greatest times of need,” Senator Mike McGuire said. “We are hoping folks will open up their hearts and donate to the kids and families who have lost their homes to this devastating fire. They need our help, now, more than ever.”

The Helena Fire continues to rage out of control, at least 72 homes have been destroyed, and dozens of families have been impacted.

“We are here to support our neighbors in Trinity County,” said Humboldt Supervisor Rex Bohn. “The Helena Fire has hit the Junction City community hard and Humboldt County is here to help. Folks on the North Coast love Trinity County for its Alps, Trinity Lake and Lewiston –  take a moment today to donate to the dozens of families and kids who have lost everything to this devastating blaze so close to home.” The Fund, which has been established at the Humboldt Area Foundation, will benefit the children and families who have lost their home to this massive blaze or whose home was damaged by the Helena Fire.

“We are all doing what we can to help our neighbors who have been significantly impacted by the Helena Fire,” said Patrick Cleary, Executive Director of Humboldt Area Foundation. “Humboldt Area Foundation is honored to work with Senator McGuire, the County of Trinity, Supervisor Bohn and the Trinity Journal to help raise funds for those who need it most in Trinity County. We have served Trinity County for many years and are proud to serve as a central collection point and help administer the Trinity County Fire Relief Fund.”

One hundred percent of donations will benefit the survivors of the Fire and donations are tax deductible.
The first priority will be to replace school supplies, clothes, and other essential items for children in Junction City Schools. The Fund will also assist the dozens of residents who have lost their home to the Helena Fire.

“Many Junction City residents have been devastated by the Helena Fire, but Trinity County is coming together like never before,” said Wayne Agner, editor and publisher of The Trinity Journal. “There are dozens of families who need our help, which is why the Trinity Journal is proud to partner with this fantastic group to establish the Trinity County Fire Relief Fund. We ask you to take action and donate to your neighbors in need.”

Tax deductible contributions can be made at www.hafoundation.org/trinityfirerelief.

Direct donations might interest many.

Food pantries in the various towns, like WeaverVille, should be easy enough to find.
Maybe others will chime in with helpful links.
