Cynthia Louise Kramer: A Caring, Generous Person With a Big Heart

This section includes both obituaries and memories. Honoring our loved ones who have died does not end immediately after their passing. We recognize that… so we’re extending our obituary section to include individuals who may have left a long time ago. If you want to remember someone who is gone, either recently or longer ago, please send a photo and a few sentences to [email protected]. Tell us why you would like to honor the person–is it their birthday, the date of their passing or some other date of significance to you? Pet remembrances are also welcome.

Cynthia Louise Kramer

Cynthia Louise Kramer passed away in her home during the early morning hours of July 30th, 2017 at the age of 56. She was born on June 3rd, 1961.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother Avenelle Coral Decker and her step father John Thomas McCormack. She is survived by her daughter Kari Ann Gonsalves, son Patrick Early McCormack, son in-law John Joseph Clinton Gonsalves, daughter in-law Kellie Diane O’Brien, grandchildren John Robert Gerald Gonsalves, Madeline Rose Gonsalves, Natalie Marie Gonsalves, Emilee Elizebeth McCormack and Liam Joseph McCormack, Ex-husband and friend Gerald Lee Kramer.

Cindy was a caring, generous person with a big heart, which she usually wore on her sleeve. She was always willing to help someone out even when she could barely help herself. Most of those people she met and helped over the years became what she considered her extended family. Throughout her life, she had a huge passion for arts and crafts, beading, gems and minerals, and traveling. She was often called a ‘Rock Hound,’ because of the many hours she would spend looking for awesome rocks on the river bar. She used to enjoy working music festivals, such as Hog Farm and Reggae on the river, enjoying the music, people, and atmosphere.

Cindy was raised in Imperial Beach, California by her mother and step father. She spent her late teen years in Imperial Beach and Chula Vista, California before moving to Humboldt County, where she fell in love with the beauty and people of the community. The last years of her life were spent enjoying her family. Her joy was to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She spent numerous nights gathered together with her grand children enjoying their company and good food, especially Halibut, her favorite.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday September 16th, at Scotia’s Fireman’s Park from 12-4PM. This will be a potluck style BBQ. Please bring a side dish and/or refreshments. In lieu of flowers, either drought resistant plants or donations towards plants for her memorial garden would be welcomed.

Patrick and Kari Ann, I love you. You and your family are in my heart. Cindy was always kind and loving, and even though I hadn’t seen her for some years, I know she loved you two more than anything else in the world, I can only imagine how she loved her grandkids! Big love from my family <3

Sad to hear of Cindy’s passing. She was a friend, though I haven’t seen her in years.
I knew her when she lived in the hills of So Hum. Ahhh, those early, carefree days. Later I saw her a few times during her (short lived?) time of working in Pierson’s Nursery.
I remember her as very open and gregarious. Her laugh was infectious. She was a people person. It’s possible that she didn’t take good care of herself though.
Rest in peace, sister.

Anyone know how she died???

I was thinking of her so strongly this summer. Didn’t know how to get ahold of her, and then, as I asked around, I learned she had passed. It hit me hard. She was definitely one of the special ones.

I hadn’t seen Cindy in years; but immediately recognized her picture. She was always so kind, and open with a warm ‘hello’ whenever we did run into one another.

I know she loved Kari and Patrick so much. I hung out with Patrick , when he was in Mrs. Andersen’s class at Weott, a great, energetic kid. I can still see Kari’s sweet face in my memory.
I will be out of town for your mom’s memorial. I hope you know how loved she was in our community. I hope your family is cradled in love. Your mom will be missed by many.

I remember sitting on a beach in Mexico one Christmas – feeling lucky to be there – and Cindy was sitting there, too, and we were looking for the smallest, most perfect shells to collect and make into art of some sort. Warm and glorious to be there in the tropical nature of Sayulita…Spending time with Cindy at the river in Phillipsville, swimming and basking the warm sun – she always laughing and joking, making the most of life at the moment.

So happy that she was enjoying all her beautiful grandchilden these past years since those days – and happy to know that there had been a lot of healing and love that has flowed through Cindy and her family. I will always remember her with love.

However, I am sorry that the 16th is a day that I will be out of town, traveling south. Please know that my love to you all will be present at the celebration of her life. Many condolences tp you all, especially her grandkids…, but also many upliftings as you remember the brightness of the spirit of Cindy in this world and beyond.
