Catherine “Katy” Marie Maghetti: ‘A Sweet, Magical, Kind-hearted Soul, With an Adorable Giggle’

This section includes both obituaries and memories. Honoring our loved ones who have died does not end immediately after their passing. We recognize that… so we’re extending our obituary section to include individuals who may have left a long time ago. If you want to remember someone who is gone, either recently or longer ago, please send a photo and a few sentences to [email protected]. Tell us why you would like to honor the person–is it their birthday, the date of their passing or some other date of significance to you? Pet remembrances are also welcome.

It is with heavy hearts we mourn the loss of Catherine “Katy” Marie Maghetti of Laytonville, California. She passed away tragically, and too soon, as a passenger in a vehicle accident on Friday, August 25th, 2017. She was born in Santa Rosa to Jerry Maghetti and Jayne Underhill Maghetti on September 21, 1963.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her dear son’s father, Preston Landis, formerly of Laytonville.

She is survived by her beloved son, Dylan Landis of Laytonville; her siblings: Madeline Petersen (Larry) of Oakland, Nancy Maghetti of Santa Rosa, Marilyn Maghetti of Chico, Rick Maghetti of Palm Desert, great uncles Jim Underhill of Cloverdale and Richard Underhill of San Francisco, numerous loving cousins, and a community of many wonderful life-long friends.

Katy was a one-of- a-kind woman with a sweet, magical, kind-hearted soul, and an adorable giggle. Her proudest accomplishment was watching her wonderful son, Dylan Landis, grow into such an incredible man. He meant the world to Katy and was her greatest love; they were quite a team on the mountain. She was a rock hound at heart and enjoyed being outside and gardening. Katy was a goofball that would humor you with the craziest stories! A kind and caring friend to many in her community, she will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life is being planned in Laytonville so we can all share our stories, and laugh as we remember the magic of Katy Maghetti.
