Rollover Crash on 299 Yesterday Led to Minor Injuries
Press release from the California Highway Patrol:
On the morning of Thursday, August 17th, a driver sustained minor injuries after driving off of SR-299 and overturning down a steep embankment.
At approximately 8:48 a.m., 28 year old Lance Rayzacharias Britton of Hoopa was driving his Silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo westbound on SR-299 west of the Boise Creek Campground. For reasons still under investigation Britton allowed his vehicle to drive off the roadway down a steep embankment where the vehicle rolled several times landing on its roof. Britton was trapped in the vehicle for a short period of time. Thanks to the help of medical personnel and the Willow Creek Volunteer Fire Department Britton was transported to Mad River Community Hospital for his injuries.
DUI is not believed to be a factor and Britton was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision. The California Highway Patrol Humboldt Area is investigating this traffic collision.

So very glad to read that Mr. Britton was not severely injured. That area of the highway has so many single car accidents. I have often wondered if the engineering of the curves there may play a part in the accidents. Far too many accidents there. I always drive the posted speed limit and actually go under the limit when it is icy or there is heavy rain.
The roads do not cause accidents. Driving behavior causes accidents. I’ve been driving 299 for over 40 years without an accident or ticket. It’s doable.
It seems alot of accidents are from SPEEDING!!lots of lead foots live here.
Or their damn phones!
