City of Eureka Now Accepting Applications for New Parklets

This is a press release from the City of Eureka:

City of EurekaThe City of Eureka is now accepting applications for new Parklets. Parklets are mini-parks (approximately 6 feet wide by 20 feet long) that occupy one on-street parallel parking space in order to provide space for public recreation and seating for private businesses. Parklets are effectively sidewalk extensions that extend out from the sidewalk at the level of the sidewalk.

In 2015, the Eureka City Council approved the temporary construction of four parklets in Old Town and also approved an 18-month parklet pilot program to evaluate them. Since that time, the four parklets that have been constructed have received positive feedback from the parklet owners, nearby businesses, locals, and tourists.

Current parklet locations are:

A Taste of Bim (613 3rd Street)

Ramone’s Bakery (209 E Street)

Provisions (AKA Humboldt Bay Tourism Center) (2nd and G Streets)

The Siren’s Song Tavern (352 2nd Street)

More Parklets are now allowed throughout the City. It is important to note that all costs associated with the design, permitting, construction, and operations of parklets (past and future) are borne solely by private parties, such as business owners and property owners. Parklets are also permitted through a rigorous process and must comply with safety requirements and design criteria developed by the City’s Design Review Committee, Transportation Safety Commission, and Arts and Culture Commission.

Eureka is now accepting applications from anyone interested in constructing a parklet. We are excited to see what the increase in the presence of parklets brings to Eureka! Anyone with questions about parklets, and anyone interested in creating a parklet, should contact Lisa Savage at 707-441-4186.

Parking space is limited downtown the parklets take 2 parking spaces. Besides except for t h e ship designed one they look like wooden boxes on the street with chairs. Our weather is not the best for eating or drinking outside..most times they are empty

Why put tables in the road? There to close to cars going by on a already slim street. Just put tables on the side walks like they do other places. We can’t use.those in the winter, just the bums. They stink from all the pee.YUCK😝

Stupid….

Pass something banning tweaker motorhomes, or old Pontiacs.

Bunch of fluff collar types sounding like Charlie Brown’s teacher, scared to tackle the real issues of the people who pay them and suffer from their lack of anything solid, or resembles leadership.

Any fool can steer a ship onto rocks, regardless of a degree or salary.

A toss out ALL THE BUMS movement needs to begin, ASAP.

Toss out bums top down, black flags- no mercy on civil leeches.

Civil servants need to be scolded, tossed out, and the friggin town cleaned up.

With wild mutants free ranging, you seriously think a tax payer gives a thought to some parking spaces?

You people are fat, lazy, and use the mutant hoardes to cover your crap.

God awaits us all….

Fix this BS.

Really? Sit out on the road in a chair with a table, Ignore traffic? Sounds like a dumb way to get your self killed. Too many bad drivers these days to do that.

This is in every town that signed on to the UN through grants and “peer pressure”. This is not a “local” project.
The UN: “1. We, the Heads of State and Government and High Representatives, meeting at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 25-27 September 2015 as the Organization celebrates its seventieth anniversary, have decided today on new global Sustainable Development Goals.” (updating to 2030 from 2021)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZzSEOgbAaA

They define what is sustainable and what is not. Farms, pastures, golf courses, family units, skiing, boating, CARS, are NOT sustainable to them.

Tired of piss poor roads, dams, badly managed wild lands, homelessness, joblessness, poverty, indoctrination, dictatorship, ? Then read up, listen and learn what YOU are up against.

One world, one vision. All states (States are country’s by the way), are being fed the same crap & the people are dumbed down enough to fall for it.
Every State, same plan.
Neo-Cons are positioned throughout the world for dealing with the rebellious individuals who refuse to give up their State’s powers and Individual rights to liberty.
Neo-Cons are the Globalists.
Neo-Cons are the Nationalists.
Neo-Cons are found in every party. They like war, because war is their loophole for raising taxes that pay for their Global takeover. One word, one government. One world, one religion. One world, one scoop of beans for all.
When your growing teenage boy needs 6 scoops of beans just to restore the calories burned in one activity, that’s too effing bad. He gets ONE scoop. EQUALITY reigns, not individual needs.

When your own representatives are more concerned about regulations and “sustainable” globalism, than they are about the joblessness, homelessness, poverty and free markets, then you might want to rethink your loyalties.

Still think Parklets are unique to your historical tourist town? Think again.
