[Audio] LEGOLAND provides more details on their own little Ferndale; Humboldt’s last week of news
In the latest episode of Humboldt Last Week (7:56): Last week those that see posts from Only in Humboldt were reminded about a miniature version of Ferndale down at LEGOLAND in Southern California.
“LEGO was created by Ole Kirk Christiansen in Billund, Denmark in 1934,” said Jake Gonzalez, a spokesman for the theme park. “In honor of the Danish company, LEGOLAND California constructed a LEGO version of Ferndale in Miniland USA because the city located in Northern California was first settled by many Danes.”
In the podcast, information in shared about how long the finite Ferndale has been around, a couple of the historic buildings they replicated, how many LEGO bricks they used, and how it differs from the other places highlighted in the Miniland USA section of the park.
The story begins at 7:56.

Interesting that Lego is fascinated so much with Ferndale. It’s not that interesting in person…
And why so negative? Comments like this are not needed. Don’t like it? Don’t comment. Ferndale is a great city with great people and great scenery. SMH
If you can’t say anything nice…
Nobody is making you visit Victor, so might as well keep the comments to yourself because the rest of us disagree. The Ferndale replication has been there for years actually, and it will probably still be around awhile.
. i like this town and the people here. i have a idea dont come around. im sure you wont be missed.
I completly disagree. Have you seen it at Christmas? Have you visted it during the Fogy Bottom Milk Run? Have you ever once walked through this quant Victorian village to enjoy the famous Victoian buildings or been there at the end of the Kinetic Sculpture Race? Have you ever stayed at the Gingerbread Inn, the Ivanho or the V? When was the last time you watched iron being fordged? Hollywood has filmed here. Have you seen “Outbreak”? (Just to name one.) It was something to see when Army Helicopters flew over the historical Ferndale Bridge. Oh! And you obviously owe it to yourself to stop by the Ferndale Pizza Company some day. One of the oldest cemetery’s in our county is in Ferndale. And if you have not yet walked through Past Times Mercantile, then you really have cheated yourself. The Ferndale Repatory Theater puts on some amazing performances throughout the year. This town has more spots of intrest than most towns four times the size. If you ever decide to drive the Lost Coast, you owe it to yourself to give Ferndale another try. Next time pay attention to the history around you. Ferndale will grow on you. My daughter cannot visit without a stop to the “hat room” in Abraxsas. My new obsession is “This Old Birdhouse”, just one of several country stores I absolutely adore. I don’t even live there but go out of my way to visit Ferndale often. Please, give it another try.
Amen!
Love!
my grandpa loyd Swenson he was a dane .
My grandma Frau Hubbard was a Prussian
It must be the challenge of all that Victorian gingerbread. Ferndale gives the impression of a story book town and that is interesting to me.
Reread the article. Many Danes settled there and the company was created by a Danish man. Read the whole article before you make your comment.
Danes, Swedes and Portuguese.
My aunt and uncle, Joe and Ann Toste, Portuguese.
Let’s see, do I remember attacking you personally, or insulting Denmark or Danish people in particular? No, I don’t think so…
Whoops, time to go to IKEA… Tack så mycket! / Mange tak!
Blessed to have been raised in Ferndale – although I don’t live there any longer, it’s still “home” in my heart.
I don’t see any comments where anyone is attacking you personally..they simply state that you need to re-read the article and not make negative comments..that in no way is an attack..if viewed as one, then I think you’re being overly sensitive..
Thanks for you opinion!
Please don’t get offended whilst I ignore what you said, and make any comment I like.
I don’t know you and don’t recall asking for advice.

If open forum rules, then doesn’t Mara’s comments also fall under the “make any comment I like” rule?
Åh undskyld! Of course they do!
PLEASE get an ignore button. Thanks.
Please pay for my computer tech to set one up.
victor we didn’t ask you.
Hi Ellen! I was also raised in Ferndale, as were the four generations before me. Never before have I heard that it wasn’t that Interesting – just the opposite. But please feel free to avoid it, if that’s the way you feel.
Big ups the palace
At least Lego Ferndale doesn’t smell like cow poooooooooooooop.
Come to ferndale and smell are dairy air🐄
If the smell of manure doesn’t make you crave raw milk, you are not countrified.
EUREKA LEGOLAND!!!!
