Hwy 36 to Close Eight Hours a Day Beginning August 1 But Aliens and Others Can Still Attend Bridgefest
Starting August 1, a contractor working for the Federal Highway Administration will be closing State Route 36 west of Dinsmore at mile marker 36 to mile marker 40.4 on Mon -Thurs from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and again at 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and again at 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
On weekends, State Route 36 will be open.
Kate McCay, Bridgeville’s BridgeFest event coordinator, wants to remind everyone that anything west of mile marker 36 will be open no matter what day of the week you drive through.Tell everyone, come on up to the river, towns, properties, events. West of construction is Open!”
“No delays and clear roads 7 days a week from highway 101 to 12 miles east of Bridgeville!” she wrote. “So, don’t worry. You can join the aliens and the more normal sort at BridgeFest on Saturday, August 19, in Bridgeville at mile marker 24.

I hope everyone has a safe journey getting there ,and back without either someone running into you ,or driving too fast ,or impaired. I just hope that Highway 36 doesn’t take another life during BridgeFest.
Please, don’t even think things like that!!! It’s bad enough as is without jinxing it more!!! Too many people doing stupid things on this narrow, winding, treacherous road & it’s getting them killed & likely sooner of later an innocent is gong to be harmed or worse yet killed because of someone else’s dumb manures (maneuvers)!!!
Everyone be sure and check out the huge garden right above bridgefest. The growers have it right out in the open for everyone to enjoy! So point it out to everyone you can to show your appreciation for their hard work.
I will.
How to close to the school is it? How close to the post office is it? Where do they get water? Are the LaPells (sp?) doing the work or leasing it? Im all for a little cannabis being grown, but that is just ridiculous. Sticking your neck out that far surely has to out you in danger of a bust or ripoff. What an embarrassment for Bridgeville hosting the event with this grow right there. Much different than say Phillipsville or some other place that has a small gathering and a home has a grow in the back yard or visible plants.
How long is this schedule anticipated to last? Seems like a multi year project?
Fuel to the fire, please pay attention on 36 that road is dangerous enough. All workers starting this project better be alert all the time. Peace to you all
I just heard last nite that the only reason they are working on 36 is to move nuclear warhead tanks from Eureka to somewhere…and that highway 101 and 299 had already refused to allow them moved through them…is this true?
No
Hi Kym,
Remember the time a few years ago the cask for the nuclear waste got stuck on 36? Maybe that’s where this crazy rumor started?

It’s a Nuclear Tank!
What’s a nuclear warhead tank?
I don’t know,maybe that’s the wrong word ….tanks containing nuclear wastes
Mile marker blah blah blah….. how about an old fashioned map of the area, with the closure area….. that would really help.. thanks
Straightening the road will likely make the problem worse. Do something about the last chance grade.
The closure is about 20 miles east of Bridgeville, a bit east of Larabee Valley and the Triumphant Life Camp.it is the area where there is no line down the middle that is being upgraded. The east end of the constrution is the Dinsmore Bridge by Buck Mtn. Rd..
The project is slated to last until Nov. this year and March through the end of October 2018.
The timing of the road closing in the morning keeps changing. This says 8 but the road signs say 7. I work at 10:30 in Mad River. I live right in the middle of the road work. They need to get the times right…9am would he great
