I listened to the audio. Odd that the press release did not include the details shared in the police dispatch.

Often times, I am reading RHBB on my phone in a public place without earphones, so I won’t play audio or video clips, so as to not disturb others.

Three Hispanic males in white jackets driving a green Honda Civic. I am not sure why either of our local main news/media outlets would not feature that in the story.

Great, arcata pd? Should be solved around 2068, or longer. Thank goodness the kid wasn’t killed.

Hmmmm. Bodhi Tree double homicide – solved, prison. That chef who got stabbed – solved, prison. Trevor Harrison gets shot – solved, prison. OK McGruff, You go and solve a stabbing after a fight where there are no sober witnesses, very little physical evidence, and a trumped-up racial narrative.

The climate of drugs are cool, and families of tell secrets about the weed is the cause of this.

Welcoming an open production and sales of drugs has brought the worst of the worst.

Proper lettuce heads blend in while going to another area to exchange duffels.

Sloppy, uncaring, stupid dirtbags ruined a good thing.

They deserve nothing less than helicopter supported mechanized infantry zip tying their worthless selves and transporting them to forced labor camps.

(Spit!)

Drugs & Hollywood thug culture.

We need Jerry brought back, even if he’s a cyborg the millennial types won’t know it’s a robot.

Give me a grilled cheese and balloon, don’t really care if I’m broken down in some town- that’s how all the good stories of white hair begin…

Kids just don’t know or can even understand.

America and it’s hope passed when Jerry went.

Honor….

A 17 yr old out at 2:45 in the morning. I won’t bother to ask what/who his parents were thinking. Secondly, given the drug culture that dominates HumCo, finding the perps will be difficult, as a collective amnesia will fall over any witnesses. My sympathies to the Arcata PD, it’s next to impossible to stay politically correct and solve crimes…

MS.Kemp-

I don’t really have the time to write a column or moderate comments at the moment.

I really miss those photos you’d toss out there from time to time.

You got it…

Why no so much camera action these days?

Rumor is your camera was stolen in Garberville, but I don’t believe that. AP, I might…

This party and the subsequent drive-by was a block away from my house. I personally slept through it all, but my wife was up until after midnight and saw the place was out of control. I just went by and talked to a young man who was working on the yard. He lives in the back house and was not home last night, but he introduced me to the landlord who by chance was just showing up. He and his wife live in Oregon and have been working on the place, getting ready for a new paint job. His renters are college students — the place in a couple of blocks from HSU — and only a couple of them are home for the summer.
They said they had a party and things got out of hand. There was a bunch of fireworks after midnight, that may have attracted more kids looking for something to do. We’re kind of in a post-July 4th mode this weekend including a fireworks display at the Crabs game. We always worry about our cat who freaks from the explosions, and my wife wanted to be sure the kitty was safe.
This is second hand, via the landlord, but he heard there were a bunch of younger high school age kids from Eureka that showed up at the party when it was raging. Perhaps word went out on the grapevine that there was an open party, who knows. At any rate, there were a bunch of strangers there and some were underage. That’s the nature of big houses with college students. At this place the worst that usually happens is out of control frisbee games in the street.
After 3 a.m. my wife woke up and looked down the street and saw there were police lights, and caution tape around the whole intersection. The party was over, but that the bad memories linger.
At this point my wife is thinking of checking in with the Arcata Police Monday morning to ask what kind of laws they have about parties after midnight. I know from experience, they are not going to tell us anything they know. The standard line is, ‘It’s an active investigation,’ and unless they have some line on the perpetrators, we’ll never hear anything at all.
Will I lose sleep worrying about crime in the streets? Not really, but I’m not too happy about the thought of people driving with guns, firing them from their cars — bullets go right through walls. But this time I dodged a bullet and slept through the whole thing.
