It’s been reported that the man who drowned possibly had a seizure while in the water. It also appears a teenaged boy attempted to rescue him. Don’t know at this time if they are related. His daughter was on the beach as well. To my knowledge the man was not a resident of Shelter Cove. How very tragic for the family, my condolences.

They were not related. My brother pulled him from the water and preformed cpr until the paramedics arrived. His daughter was NOT on the beach at the time.
Very sad day for all involved.

I pulled him from the ocean, he had a seizure, and i dove in to rescue him. I was not surfing at the time, we just went to the beach cause there was a tropical storm off Baja.
I am not related to him but his daughter is my fiancé. I loved that man like a father and it was the hardest thing to deal with. Another surfer name christian paddled over and attempted CPR for around 20 minutes with me until shelter cove fire and rescue arrived. after pulling him all the way out of the water. Ally(my fiancé) was at home.

I did everything that i could do to save his life. Now all I can do is honor his life, respect his wishes and do what he would’ve done. Mike was an amazing person and amazing father. :'(
