A quarter acre fire broke out at French’s Camp a little after 3 p.m. today. An air tanker, a copter, and multiple engines including Garberville and Piercy Fire were asked to respond to the area but Garberville Fire reported quickly that locals had gotten the fire out and most resources were sent home.

Perfect example of what happens when you mow dry grass at 3:00 pm. Fire Departments have been saying for years to not mow after noon. We are lucky that it was stopped at 1/4 acre with today’s heat and wind. Bonehead move.
