Eureka Man Arrested for Attempted Homicide
This is a press release from the Eureka Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On June 16, 2017 at about 9:32 a.m., the Eureka Police Department received reports of two shots fired in the area of Wabash Avenue and B Street. The suspect was seen leaving in a black Dodge Charger. Officers responded and located two shell casings in the street on the 20 block of Wabash Avenue.
During the course of the investigation the intended victim of the shooting was identified. The victim was able to identify the shooter as 34 year old Eureka resident, Michael Grant. Based on supporting evidence, investigators developed probable cause that Grant attempted to kill the victim.
On June 21, 2017 at about 9:23 p.m., Michael Grant was arrested within a block of where the shooting took place. He was in possession of a loaded handgun. Grant was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on a warrant and fresh charges for felon in possession of a firearm.
On June 23, 2017 at 4:00 p.m., investigators booked Grant with attempted murder and domestic violence. Anyone with further information regarding this incident is asked to call Senior Detective Harpham at (707) 441-4305.

Good job apprehending this suspect!
this person shot and killed a young man in crescent city. Not long ago with witnesses and it takes Humboldt county like only 12 hours to catch him for attempting murder I’d say good job Humboldt county.

I just love Smokey Robinson.
No way he did it look at his booking photo, haha (sarcasm)
You do know what tattooed tears on the face means?
A tear = prison term.
Looks like he had one term… but he may add another ‘tear’ after this.
My understanding is that each tear represents the commission of a murder, which would mean Michael Grant has already taken one life.
The tattoo can have various meanings: it can signify that the wearer has killed someone or has spent time in prison; that the wearer was raped while incarcerated, having been tattooed involuntarily, or it can acknowledge the loss of a family or fellow gang member.
Why does the headline have to say “Eureka Man” instead of just “Man”? You think only men from Eureka have been arrested for attempted murder?
Seriously? Because he lives in eureka Einstein. What a ridiculous comment.
Oh, god. You do know how to chew on a grudge and snarl, don’t you?
Only this time and only because, after multiple attempts of explaining the meaning of my wording and the relevance to the topic, you continued to edit my comment and insinuate that I’m racists. I’m done now though. You already have enough babble to read with Chump and, in my opinion, JC.
Lol you dirty racist!
Not saying you are racist. Saying that some people were using that phrase to make racist statements. In addition, Hoopa residents have expressed to me that this is disturbing to them.
I used to call a certain kind of nuts nigger toes when I was young. I meant no harm by it— that is just what I had heard them called. Later, when I learned it was hurtful, I stopped.
I’m familiar with those nuts. Called them the same thing while I was growing up. Just like you I matured and knew then that it was wrong to call them that. I believe they’re actually called Brazil nuts. For the record my wording was not specific to Native Americans. There are plenty of thieves in Hoopa who are not Native American. At the same time there are more Hoopa Natives who are good people than ones that are not. I hope the people from Hoopa who have expressed their concern to you read this and understand what I meant. I’m sure that some of those same people have had to deal with the thieves in the valley.
Kym I know it must be exhausting doing what you do so I appreciate you responding to my childish behavior, giving me the chance to explain. I’ll go back to being a good little commenter now.
I hate being edited, too. I sympathize.
wow….the N word really just wow…….
For heaven’s sakes, every kid who has ever read Harry Potter knows that not speaking a word gives it power. Nigger is a terrible slur. Calling someone that will get you edited and likely banned if you repeat it here BUT being afraid to say the word to describe what not to say, for instance using a euphemism like “THE N WORD” is part of the culture of fear that keeps people from speaking honestly about race issues. Websites as diverse asWikipedia and the African American Registry, use it to describe that it is a slur.
When you use an euphemism, you are making all the listeners say the word for you in their head which strikes me as incredibly silly. Just say the word.
That word should never come out of a white persons mouth period no justification or explanation can cover your ass! If one is so bold walk up to a black person call them a NIGGA then give them your witty explanation? yea what I thought exactly…but then again your white so it makes it right.
Did you read what I said? I don’t think so. I very clearly said calling someone “Nigger” is not acceptable. In fact on my site, it can lead to banning.
Using the word, like you just used “Nigga” as a way to discuss what one is talking about is sensible.
I guess I just don’t have an eye for this shit. I can’t tell if he’s a criminal, or on drugs!:)
Never trust a short hair.
I wonder how long it will be until they release them back out on the streets?
Not nearly long enough for my liking!!!
Wabash and B – where the magic happens.
Whenever a word is reserved for use by only one race….. well, that’s simply racist.
Sanpaku eyes.
