Firefighters Battle Burning Pickup When Tank Ruptures Spewing Flaming Fuel

[All photos by Mark McKenna]

This morning around 5:30 a.m., Humboldt Bay Fire rushed to the scene of a pickup in flames on Walker Point Road off of Indianola Cutoff.

Reporter Mark McKenna tells us that the first engine ran out of water as the fuel tank of the vehicle ruptured sending ignited fuel into the driveway. Multiple engines responded and foam was used to control the blaze. The vehicle was near a home and adjacent to a carport but the fire did not spread.

I sure would like to understand more about fighting fires in the absence of lots of water. Although I have tanks here, I can see going through the stored water very fast and any interruptions of power means no replenishment.

It’s a good thing the house didn’t burn also, because the number of house fires that start with a vehicle
that’s parked near the house are on the rise.
Please be aware.

Or if there was a weed grow, hookers, stolen or legal firearms, amount of cash, how many undocumented workers, the last time they were in jail, how bad their neighbors are blowing it up, and how many pitbulls were on scene.

someday i’ll be very wealthy. the 1st thing i’ll do is throw a party for any and all emergency workers who care to attend.
you people are amazing and i love you all.

the 2nd thing i’ll do is pay their ins. premiums for 5 yrs. they must put out big $ in premiums as they live dangerous lives.

thank you firemen/women!
