Woman Pinned Under Car After Driver Fled the Scene in Hoopa
About 4:40 P.M., a woman, Andrea Hunsucker, was struck by a vehicle in the area of Airport Road near Hoopa. Hunsucker was “pinned underneath the vehicle,” according to Lt. Ken Swithenbank of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. “Citizens had to use jacks to get the victim out.”
Swithenbank said that the driver fled the scene. Later, Maggie Jones turned herself into Tribal Police, Swithenbank said. She is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
Hunsucker had moderate injuries but refused help.
Swithenbank said he doesn’t have all the details but that two males were also involved in the altercation. One allegedly had a gun which led to the report of an active shooter but, the lieutenant said that no shots were fired.
“There was no active shooter,” he explained.
