At least two vehicles collided on southbound Hwy 101 near Singley Lane around 1:48 p.m. The first report from the scene is that one is a dump truck and one is an SUV.

“Road completely blocked,” said the dispatch over the scanner. As many as four possible patients. “We’ll have Caltrans divert traffic off at Loleta.”

The incident commander says there are three vehicles involved and all patients have minor injuries.

UPDATE 2:03 p.m.: A dump truck, a truck with logs and SUV were all involved. The patients all refused the ambulance, according to the Incident Commander.

Wow, hope everyone is gonna be ok. Can think of worse places to be stuck than 101, but, man, I am sorta in a hurry to get home!

Yep, being in a hurry is probably the number one cause of highway accidents. I drive to Eureka everyday at 65 to 70 miles per hour and most everyone passes me.
Slow down and live! Maybe people could leave a bit earlier for their destination and make the road safer for everyone.

Agreed! I was gonna be 15 min early to my destination, but goes to show that even when allowing for extra time any thing unexpected can happen. And yes, I also drive the 101 at a decent speed and am constantly getting passed by people with kids in the car drinking a coffee and talking on the phone!

It’s not really the speeding that’s the issue, it’s the people driving 50 mph in the fast lane that wait until someone fed up gets into right lane that they wait to move over to the slow lane and cause accidents. It’s the people on cell phones without Bluetooth or that are doing their makeup while sipping a frappachino (spelling?) I’ve no issue with people speeding as long as they know how to friggin drive!!

Glad I’m not the only one who feels this way about it. It drives me nuts. I’d much rather someone who can drive pass me at 90 than dealing with people all over the road, driving slow as hell or pulling that crap where they drive 75, slow to 55, speed up to 80, slow down to 60… etc etc

The speed limit is 65 on 101! That sign you see 101, is not the speed limit!

More than likely caused by a farm tractor with equipment attached driving on freeway.

Hey Kym. Why are those involved characterized as “patients”? Am I missing something? Wouldn’t they be ‘victims’, ‘involved persons / parties’, or something?
Maybe you were thinking about the ‘patient’ travelers who were delayed on the highway? 😉

Hummmmm. Maybe it applies. Would it be the “obsolete” noun use?
Checked the definition of ‘patient’ and this is what it said….
Adj.
1. Bearing or enduring pain, difficulty, provocation, or annoyance with calmness.
2. Marked by or exhibiting calm endurance of pain, difficulty, provocation, or annoyance.
3. Tolerant; understanding: an unfailingly patient leader and guide.
4. Persevering; constant: With patient industry, she revived the failing business and made it thrive.
5. Capable of calmly awaiting an outcome or result; not hasty or impulsive.
6. Capable of bearing or enduring pain, difficulty, provocation, or annoyance: “My uncle Toby was a man patient of injuries” (Laurence Sterne).
noun.
1. One who receives medical attention, care, or treatment.
2. Linguistics A noun or noun phrase identifying one that is acted upon or undergoes an action. Also called goal.
3. Obsolete One who suffers.

But were those people on site ‘treated’? Does the CHP’s observations and consul constitute ‘treatment’? Am not attached to the answer. Am more curious…..

boy no one really knows what happened, but you seem to put the blame on the tractor!! really? maybe it was the other person that wasn’t paying attention!! the speed limit is 65,doesn’t mean you have to drive that fast. But people continue to talk on phones, speed, cause they’re in a hurry and have no patience!!

A women in a newer Tacoma passed me at about 85 by king salmon texting on her phone (the whole way through eureka as well, due to traffic and lights we stayed close until kmart), I honestly thought it was her when I came around the corner.

As I have theorized many times previously my take on it is, there is a CDL in every box of Cracker Jack as the “Toy Surprise”!!!
