Terrible Accident Where Car Was Split in Two Near Cloverdale Wasn’t Fatal by Some Miracle

Yesterday, we had multiple requests for information about an accident that occurred on Hwy 101 north of Geyserville and south of  near Cloverdale. The accident was particularly ugly looking as can be seen in the video by Wendy Kornberg above. (She also provided us with the video of the slide pouring down over 101 a couple weeks ago.)

Normally we don’t cover that far south but we thought that those who were concerned would like to know that this accident was not fatal.

In fact, the injuries described are relatively minor–which is a miracle considering the state of the white Chevy.

Here’s the report from the California Highway Patrol:

CHP accident reportOn 05/13/2017 at approximately 0803 hours, a silver Toyota was traveling northbound on US-101 north of Geysers Rd. At the same time, a white Chevy was traveling southbound on US-101 north of Geysers Rd. The Toyota drifted across the divided highway into the southbound lanes and collided with the Chevy. The driver of the Toyota was ejected from his vehicle during the collision. Both parties were transported via ground and/or air ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial with complaint of pain and visible injuries. The northbound and southbound lanes of US- IO I were closed intermittently for an extended period of time _to investigate the collision.

The cause of this collision is still under investigation, but it is believed drugs are a contributing factor in this collision.

She needs to use HD. At least the narration wasn’t as annoying this time. Next stop, Youtube! beware, they changed the rules and if you have an original thought your adverts get pulled. lol

PS. This accident was NORTH of Cloverdale, just north of the Geysers Road exit. Not between Geyserville and Cloverdale as the article states.

We went through there after the accident and it was definitely north of Cloverdale. I cannot believe there were no fatalities after seeing that Chevy on the flat bed of the tow truck.

I am a “local” and travel that road all the time. Geysers Road is just North of Cloverdale off 101. Geyserville is North and East of the accident site. The accident site is just North of the “hill”.

I am starting to feel like it would be wise to check Wendy’s travel plans and stay far away from wherever she’ll be 😉

Seriously, though, I am still amazed by the slide footage and I am in awe that there was no fatality here.
Several guardian angels are putting in for hazard money on this one.

Thank God! What a miracle! An old saying, :When ever anything bad has happened, you have always been there…..It’s all your fault!” A little humor in a situation that could have involved many lives. Thanks for the report Wendy!

Ok, what’s the make of that car. Remind me never to buy one of those 🙁 Glad the injuries were not worse. They are very blessed to be alive!

The Impala came apart because of a an improper repair. To the trained eye, it is obvious that the car separated along repair lines. Most likely a reconstructed vehicle because the extent of the improper repairs was more than the car was worth. This is NOT vehicle design. It’s a bad repair.

The nhtsa needs to have a look into the malibu’s crashworthyness… that’s one of those things that’s really not supposed to happen.

I agree with you about the need for the NHTSA to have a look at this accident. The separation of the spot welds is amazing on the Chevrolet.

I was an unofficial first responder years ago, to an accident in just about that exact spot. Unfortunately it ended up being a triple fatality. I’ll never forget that day, it was traumatic. That long turn right there is so dangerous and easy for your speed to creep up on and to drift out of your lane. Watch your speed, slow down and no distracted driving, please. Those people are so lucky they’re still alive and mostly okay.

Also if I remember right the road is very rough through there. It’s pretty active area with a lot of squeezing and folding going on.
