[UPDATE 3:15 p.m.] Search Teams Continue Looking for Missing Pilot
As of 2 p.m., searchers combing the main stem of the Eel River for the missing pilot of a ultralight plane that went down yesterday near McCann have been unsuccessful. Diana Totten spokesperson for the Southern Humboldt County Technical Rescue Team said that crews had been out looking all day and had yet to find the local man.
Totten also said that the team wanted to extend their thanks to restaurants and community members who have provided food for the searchers. “There has been an overwhelming amount of support,” she said.
UPDATE 3:15 p.m.: According to Lonny Whitlow, “There are 5 boats on the water…There are 4 volunteer divers…14 volunteers searching and 4 tech rescue and 2 sheriffs. Still no luck and or sign.”
