Hwy 101 is open! The first few cars headed south through the slide area today at 12:17 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol Incident Information Page. The major north south route closed after boulders rolled off the hillside into the roadway yesterday evening.

The closure caused missed appointments, dangerous detours, closed one school, and frustrated drivers.

According to the California Highway Patrol Incident Information Page, one lane is open now but expect delays of 20 to 30 minutes. “The road will remain one-way until further notice,” according to Phil Frisbie, Jr. Caltrans Chief of Public Information.

For what it’s worth….. Typo still appears on the news stream scroll page or front page of the story (whatever you call it).

Don’t sweat it, Kym. Minor typos, and the like, are signs that a real human is creating what we readers enjoy and benefit from. So, I think they actually add to your authenticity and that of your work. Authenticity is something that people crave, in this increasingly digital world.
THANK YOU!!

Hoping to go through early tomorrow morning.
As long as it stays open, it’ll be open 24 hours a day, right?

Thanks so much for all that you do!

Went down at 930 am couldn’t pass traffic backed up for miles. Had it open with a 45 min delay for me around 12:30 pm, when came back around 9 pm they had the catch gate up etc but northbound lane still destroyed. Going to take a few days before it’s cleared but gilotti and caltrans did a great job getting that sucker running! Thanks guys

Thanks!

I’m assuming it’s closed again. Any insight to when it reopens. Looking at a trip this weekend
