Bomb Threat Forces Evacuation of Veteran Services Building
About 11 a.m. this morning, an employee of the Humboldt County Veterans Services Office received a bomb threat from a man that may live in Southern Humboldt, said Lt. Ken Swithenbank of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. Employees were forced to evacuate the building at 1105 6th Street in Eureka while Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) unit searched for a device.
“The caller threatened to blow everyone up,” Swithenbank said.
After a thorough search though, no device was found and employees were allowed back in the building.

Sucks that it has come to this… people crying out but using the wrong avenues. Stay safe peoples!!
They need BOMB sniffing dogs, Humboldt County only has BONG sniffing dogs.
So true Ernie what’s happened to or Humboldt very sad state of affairs what would possesse a person to want to blow up the Veterans building of all places.
Perhaps a victim of PTSD who cannot get timely care. One of the potential suicides (22 veterans each DAY)
Why does swithie think he knows who the bomb threatened is?
Why are they speculating that the caller might have been from Southern Humboldt?
They did not want to release that information.
There’s a Marvelous “new” technique called Caller ID that helps immnsely with that sort of thing!!! If the call was from a cell phone they can track that down also!!!
