As temperatures continue to fall, Southern Humboldt will be opening an Extreme Weather Shelter tomorrow evening at the Baptist Church in Redway to allow a safe place for those without a place to stay.

Tonight the temperature is expected to “only” drop to 36 degrees which doesn’t meet the criteria for opening the shelter. Tomorrow, however, temperatures in Southern Humboldt are predicted to reach 32 degrees.

The shelter will open at 6 p.m. and intake will continue past 9 p.m. Hot food will be served to those who come.

No matter what one’s circumstances are, people should look after people during extreme conditions.
Thank you for your selfless humanity and grace, Baptist Church of Redway.
You are a reminder that people are basically good at heart.

Hey, volunteer to drive some bums to Phoenix! Or take a few home with you to Bakersfield or Sacramento!
