Pedestrian Struck in Fortuna; Police Seek Witnesses

Press release from the Fortuna Police Department:

Shattered car windowOn Friday, February 3rd 2017 at approximately 7:30 am, the Fortuna Police Department Communications center began receiving calls about a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision in the area of School Street and Rohnerville Road.  Fortuna Police Department, Fortuna Fire Department and City Ambulance responded and upon arrival, located a male subject down in the roadway with moderate injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing but preliminary information indicates that the 45 year old driver of the Toyota Prius was turning westbound onto School Street from northbound Rohnerville Road when she struck the 62 year old pedestrian.

The department is attempting to locate witnesses to the collision.  If you witnessed this collision, you are being asked to contact Sgt. Ellebrecht at (707) 725-1440.

Maybe it’s the same Prius that hit and killed the guy by the slough bridge in Eureka last month. Or maybe Marci traded in her jeep for a Prius. Hope the guy recovers quickly.

I think the driver stayed at the scene; at least that’s how I’m reading it. True?

Good point, Im so used to everything being hit and runs around here that I never considered the person actually stuck around after the accident. That counts Marci out on this one.

I hate to say this, butttt… I think it’s time for a stop sign at that intersection, too many deaths at that same place.
