[UPDATE: Thursday] Fire on UC Berkeley Campus as Riot Breaks Out

A protest at UC Berkeley against a speech by Milo Yiannopoulos, a senior editor at Breitbart News who was banned from Twitter, has exploded with an estimated 1000 protesters starting fires and throwing bricks.

“Getting a report of another fire on the UC Campus,” reports personnel on the Berkeley Police scanner at 6:35 p.m.

Twitter feeds focused on the event exploded with photos and video like this:

UC Berkeley Police tweeted warnings to “stay away” from Sproul Plaza, Bancroft and Telegraph “due to major protest attacks” this evening. They warned of a possible need to shelter in place and urged protesters to disperse.

The planned speech drew ire from left leaning groups for weeks. However, citing free speech rights, UC Berkeley Chancellor Nicholas Dirks planned to allow Yiannopoulos to appear on campus. In a written statement released several days ago, Dirks stated,

In our view, Mr. Yiannopoulos is a troll and provocateur who uses odious behavior in part to “entertain,” but also to deflect any serious engagement with ideas. He has been widely and rightly condemned for engaging in hate speech directed at a wide range of groups and individuals, as well as for disparaging and ridiculing individual audience members…

But, he also said they would allow Yiannopoulos to speak,

…we are defending the right to free expression at an historic moment for our nation, when this right is once again of paramount importance.

Due to the violent nature of the protests, however, the speech was cancelled about 7:15 p.m.

UPDATE 7:20 p.m.: UC Police tweeted 7 minutes ago, “Due to violent demonstration, additional resources are being brought in. Cal students should leave the area immediately.”

UPDATE 8:20 p.m.: UC Berkeley Police tweet that campus buildings are still on lockdown but that the “protest [is] moving into South Berkeley. Cal students in the area please shelter in place for your safety.”

UPDATE 9 p.m.: UC Berkeley News seem to imply that the violence was caused by outside agitators. They state,

Amid an apparently organized violent attack and destruction of property at the Martin Luther King Student Union, the University of California Police Department determined that it was necessary to evacuate Milo Yiannopoulos from the campus and to cancel tonight’s scheduled 8 p.m. performance. The violence was instigated by a group of about 150 masked agitators who came onto campus and interrupted an otherwise non-violent protest…Officials added that they regret that the threats and unlawful actions of a few have interfered with the exercise of First Amendment rights on a campus that is proud of its history and legacy as home of the Free Speech Movement.

(For the complete statement, click here.)

UPDATE 6:58 a.m.: President Donald Trump tweeted, “If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view – NO FEDERAL FUNDS?”

That’s a different perspective (positive promotion) than the one (complacent resignation) you seemed to promote in the thread re: the faculty letter. Good to read it here.

Peace and love always work, and they always play better than the opposite. One could say, promoting peace and love isn’t in “human nature”. It’s a simple matter of perspective and belief, though.

Censoring freedom of speech is unconstitutional. All states signed a contract stating they will protect & defend the entire Constitution. Protecting certain areas of it, but not others, is unconstitutional. Unconstitutional shenanigans is repugnant to the Constitution and therefore to be considered Null & void.
There are other consequences too, but that’s probably over our heads.

15 saudi’s attacked us on 9/11.

Bandar bush anyone? The Bush family’s closest friends and allies….Saudi Arabia.

Conservatives followed blindly into Iraq (again) and everywhere “terror” hid except Saudi Arabia.

Cheney and Bush fought bitterly against the 9/11 commission and it’s investigation. The 9/11 report leads into Saudi royal financing 9/11 with needs of ” further investigation.” You know, because the Commission was stonewalled by lack of funds and official cooperation.

Isis is your blowback.

Conservatives cried about the “unconstitutional” Obamacare but cheered for the NDAA and Patriot Act.

We now have how many dead or wounded US soldiers, for what? WMD’s in Iraq? 9/11 justice? Free and stable middle east? Your freedom? Your safety?

NOPE to all that.

Halliburton pockets got fat and homeowners got screwed.

The college aged ‘kids’ today continue to show how spoiled and hypocritical they are. All the protesters drive cars, use petroleum products, take their trash to a dump, etc. They preach ‘environmentalists’ yet the police, the Sioux Tribe and Gov office are spending days cleaning up the trash left by the protesters at Standing Rock. I agree we need changes, but burning things, violence, acting out like a child and stomping your feet is not the way to go about it.

Idiots with an agenda always find a home. Right now the same spirit of hate houses itself under liberalism as it housed itself under conservative during the pre civil rights era. Not one in ten can say why their behavior and beliefs us better than their opponents. The point is to do the best they can to call someone else names and drag them down as out thinking is not required. Nor is proving a point required if you hurl a Molotov Cocktail instead.

There is leftist hypocrisy just as there is right (ist?) hypocrisy. Hipocracy is human failing. Not a philosophical failure. Just as a two year old who will deny eating the chocolate cake while their face is smeared with the evidence they did is not to be believed, people who insult and shout down and riot have covered themselves in proof of their incompetence and should not be believed either.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/04/10/politics/civil-rights-act-interesting-facts/

Is it simply because of the fact that a lot of conservatives are religious? And their religion condones the murder of unborn children, therefore they don’t want their tax money to pay for abortions. Yet when tax money is used to say, as an example, build a wall with Mexico, which goes against Democratic believes they think they have the right to go out and riot in the streets, burning down innocent people’s businesses and assaulting people that are not involved with either side. yes I know religious Fanatics have also done terrible things, and I don’t condone either side, just pointing out the hypocrisy.

This is what worries me. Agents provocateur, paid by the administration to turn public opinion against the protestors.
Remember the 1953 Iranian coup d’état, was the overthrow of the democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh to bring back the Shaw, who was a puppet,19 August 1953, orchestrated by the United Kingdom and the United States. They hired thugs who pretended they supported Mosaddegh, who rampaged through Tehran setting fires and breaking windows in order to turn public opinion against him. And it worked.

Protestors should confront strangers who come to make trouble before they do the same thing here.

That’s a great idea. Here’s an example in action:

These protests do not work. Marching in big numbers does not work. Burning and smashing, although sometimes cool, does not work. The most powerful protest is not spending your money. It really is simple, yet they have us by the proverbial balls. “if I don’t go to work, I can’t pay my bills”, “If I don’t cooperate, I will not get my government check”. If we want to make a change, withhold your money. That will get their attention. Back when gas prices were at an all time high and at the same time the oil companies were making record breaking profits, all we did was complain. If we would have stopped buying the gas, the prices would have dropped.

The collapse of the Roman Empire, Black Death, Spanish Inquisition, Thirty Years War, War of the Roses, English Civil War… it’s a long list. Events of massive destruction from which humanity recovered and move on, often in better shape.

At a local level in time people think things are fine, then things rapidly spiral out of control until they become unstoppable, and we wreak massive destruction on ourselves. For the people living in the midst of this it is hard to see happening and hard to understand. To historians later it all makes sense and we see clearly how one thing led to another.

…this is a cycle. It happens again and again, but as most people only have a 50–100 year historical perspective they don’t see that it’s happening again. As the events that led to the First World War unfolded, there were a few brilliant minds who started to warn that something big was wrong, that the web of treaties across Europe could lead to a war, but they were dismissed as hysterical, mad, or fools, as is always the way, and as people who worry about Putin, Brexit, and Trump are dismissed now.

Lead people to feel they have lost control of their country and destiny, people look for scapegoats, a charismatic leader captures the popular mood, and singles out that scapegoat. He talks in rhetoric that has no detail, and drums up anger and hatred. Soon the masses start to move as one, without any logic driving their actions, and the whole becomes unstoppable.

That was Hitler, but it was also Mussolini, Stalin, Putin, Mugabe, and so many more. Mugabe is a very good case in point. He whipped up national anger and hatred towards the land owning white minority (who happened to know how to run farms), and seized their land to redistribute to the people, in a great populist move which in the end unravelled the economy and farming industry and left the people in possession of land, but starving. See also the famines created by the Soviet Union, and the one caused by the Chinese Communists last century in which 20–40 million people died. It seems inconceivable that people could create a situation in which tens of millions of people die without reason, but we do it again and again.

But at the time people don’t realise they’re embarking on a route that will lead to a destruction period. They think they’re right, they’re cheered on by jeering angry mobs, their critics are mocked. This cycle, the one we saw for example from the Treaty of Versaille, to the rise of Hitler, to the Second World War, appears to be happening again. But as with before, most people cannot see it because:

1. They are only looking at the present, not the past or future

2. They are only looking immediately around them, not at how events connect globally

3. Most people don’t read, think, challenge, or hear opposing views

Trump is doing this in America. Those of us with some oversight from history can see it happening. Read this brilliant, long essay in the New York magazine to understand how Plato described all this, and it is happening just as he predicted. Trump says he will Make America Great Again, when in fact America is currently great, according to pretty well any statistics. He is using passion, anger, and rhetoric in the same way all his predecessors did — a charismatic narcissist who feeds on the crowd to become ever stronger, creating a cult around himself. You can blame society, politicians, the media, for America getting to the point that it’s ready for Trump, but the bigger historical picture is that history generally plays out the same way each time someone like him becomes the boss.”

Taking the stance that “they’re shutting down the conversation and that’s the part that’s wrong” Is so often taken by white non Jewish people.
Most Americans don’t realize Hitler was first jailed for his speeches & when he couldn’t get his message of genocide properly backed he was put in power by a team very similar to the team in charge now.
This, all of this we are seeing has happened before we can’t seem to learn from history.
What will our story be that we like the Germans tolerated the hate speech, propaganda etc “not wanting to shut down the conversation” until it was too late?

I believe in free speech and the right to protest ( peacefully ) . The problem is when groups join in with their own agenda that is criminal in nature. They should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Trump should focus on the deportation of these individuals, instead of the honest immigrants trying to get into our country. Maybe Pay Syria to take them with a no return clause.

The scariest point? That the police consider rioting as “peaceful”.

Thanks to the Sanctuary State bill passing through the Senate, the cops probably were told to stand down. Thanks to the Sanctuary State bill passing through the Senate, the halt on funding will be extended throughout the entire state. But don’t worry, little snowflakes, the Governor has previously bragged to the admin that Calif is so rich & prosperous that the funds won’t be missed. Besides, the Cal exit leader has a wonderful tie to Russia & will take good care of you. You got this.
Milo tried to warn you.

Most of the protestors or violent assholes (whichever you prefer) probably are on scholarship or have mum and daddy pay for their education. Those that work two jobs, etc to cover their tuition wouldn’t jeapardize it with shenanigans…

Just another well planned terrorist act by the liberal violent left that lost the election & can’t deal with it. Taking power back by force seems to be the agenda. Those well equipped black hooded Nazi thugs that “someone” has paid for & outfitted to stop any ideas they don’t like is pure domestic terrorism.

Apparently when these black attired Nazi thugs are allowed to burn, destroy & threaten people its OK. Why did the police let these criminals do as they pleased?

Like Nazi Germany the police let the black uniformed thugs go unchecked & the liberal news media calls these violent criminal thugs protestors! Obama encouraged disregarding the rule of law & the liberal paid for black operations continue.

Whats next?

After bringing in 150 MASKED AGITATORS who caused a lot of harm on the campus (good guess UC Berkeley knew the 150 MASKED AGITATORS WERE PAID TO COME AND RIOT), THEN, as President Trump suggests, the Federal Funding to UC Berkeley should be IMMEDIATELY taken away, and if the parents of these “jerking” kids want their kids out of UC Berkeley, they should be taken out IMMEDIATELY!

If I had a “kid” going to UC Berkeley, yesterday would have been that “kid’s” last day there, unless the “kid” could pay his own way. I would have to have something wrong with my mind to pay for a “kid” or “child” to go to UC Berkeley, when the school allows 150 Masked Agitators (and might I add “PAID” MASKED AGITATORS) to come in an riot, even if they don’t like the speaker, and a lot of people obviously didn’t want the speaker there!!!

We have free speech, which the PAID MASKED AGITATORS took away by rioting and causing a huge amount of trouble. These people should be caught and made to pay for every penny it costs to repair any and all damage caused by these PAID MASKED AGITATORS, AND ANY ONE CONNECTED WITH THE COLLEGE THAT KNEW AND ALLOWED THESE PAID MASKED AGITATORS SHOULD BE LET GO BY UC BERKELEY, ALONG WITH TAKING THE FEDERAL FUNDING TOTALLY AWAY FROM UC BERKELEY!!!

THIS BALONEY NEEDS TO STOP NOW ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES. IF GEORGE SOROS HAS A CONNECTION TO THIS, HE SHOULD BE HUNTED DOWN AND PUT AWAY FOREVER AND EVER (for this riot and the many, many other riots and baloney Soros has paid for, like the millions he gave to the Clinton Campaign–and Clinton who was to take our guns and then put the 99.99% of us into the Evil New World Order–Clinton’s dream), AND/OR ANYBODY LIKE GEORGE SOROS WHO HAD THIS CONNECTION TO THE MASKED AGITATORS, SHOULD BE HUNTED DOWN AND PUT AWAY.

This is looking like in the 1920’s when the Feds had to go out after the MOB to get them to stop what they were doing!!! These riots and protests have more to do with Soros and his Kind wanting the New World Order implemented on the Citizens of the United States, against the People who voted for Trump WHO DO NOT WANT THE NEW WORLD ORDER. This is not just about Democrats and Republicans–just as the March of the (nasty women) was not about Democrats (but most of those women are too dumb or air-headed with lacking morals) to know what they were marching about, and the ones that ran their big, nasty mouths mostly belong to the Satanic Illuminati!!!

Hahaha, KrisAnne didn’t say it out loud & personal in this episode, but anybody paying attention will connect the dots as to WHY the politicians are terrified of & spiteful towards President Trump.
First half:. The ETHICS resolution oath that also corrals the out of hand politicians.
Second half: The uniform naturalization law. All states signed this contract before becoming a state. You no comply, there be severe consequences.

Donald Trump, Russia, And Rosneft: Vladimir Putin Oil Mystery
by Jonathan Vankin Jan.30, 2017

http://www.inquisitr.com/3935723/donald-trump-russia-golden-shower-pee-tape-vladimir-putin-rosneft-oil-steele-dossier-bribe/

Did Vladimir Putin try to bribe Donald Trump to lift sanctions on Russia with an $11 billion stake in Rosneft, the largely state-controlled Russian oil company giant? While no evidence directly links Trump to last month’s sale of a 19.5 percent stake in Rosneft to mysterious buyers whose identities have yet to be revealed, an allegation contained in the so-called “Steele Dossier” published earlier has thrust the question of the new U.S. president’s role into public scrutiny.

…while the vivid imagery of Trump enjoying the scene as women urinated on each other grabbed the national imagination, the Steele Dossier contained a far more important and potentially explosive allegation: that a secretive former top Trump confidant, Carter Page, received an offer from Rosneft CEO Igor Sachin to broker a sale of 19 percent of the massive oil firm, according to a report by Business Insider last week.

“Sechin’s associate said that the Rosneft president was so keen to lift personal and corporate western sanctions imposed on the company, that he offered Page and his associates the brokerage of up to a 19 per cent (privatized) stake in Rosneft,” according to the Steele Dossier…

While Trump has not yet committed to lifting the sanctions, Russia sold a 19.5 percent stake in Rosneft last month for a price of 10.2 billion euros — approximately $11 billion — to a Singapore-based investment that supposedly was jointly owned by the government of Qatar and a Swiss oil trading company, Glencore, Reuters reported last week.

…experts say that the Qatar-Swiss partnership is merely a front for the real buyers, whose identity remains a deeply buried mystery, the Reuters report said.

In fact, the Qatar-Glencore partnership is at least partly owned by a shadowy company in the Cayman Islands — a popular haven for money laundering, tax evasion and other unregulated financial operations — according to Reuters. The ownership of the Caymans-based firm remains unknown. As part of its freewheeling financial environment, the Cayman Islands allows company owners to remain anonymous.

“The reason this is so interesting is that the dossier said this in July, and the sale didn’t happen until early December,” wrote political analyst Yonatan Zunger in a Medium.com posting on Sunday. “And 19.5 percent sounds an awful lot like “19% plus a brokerage commission.”

At a January 11 press conference, Trump’s spokesperson Sean Spicer — now the presidential press secretary — denied that Trump even knew Page and that the adviser was “put on notice months ago” by Trump’s presidential campaign.

But the day before the January 20 inauguration of Donald Trump, the New York Times reported that Carter Page was one of at least three individuals in the Trump campaign who were under investigation by the FBI, National Security Agency, and Central Intelligence Agency for possible links to high-ranking Russian officials.

Swiss Glencore Unlikely to Be Part of Russia’s Rosneft Board of Directors
Feb. 1, 2017

https://sputniknews.com/russia/201702011050228837-rosneft-switzerland-directors-board/

Swiss trader Glencore will not be represented in the board of directors of Russia’s Rosneft oil company after it had bought a 19.5-percent stake in the Russian firm, Russian media reported Wednesday, citing a source close the one of Rosneft’s shareholders.
The source told the Vedomosti newspaper that Glencore was not interested in participating in managing the state-owned Rosneft company.

In December 2016, a Rosneft spokesman said the representation of Glencore and Qatar’s fund in the board would be proportional to their obtained shares.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glencore

Glencore plc (an acronym for Global Energy Commodity Resources) is an Anglo–Swiss multinational commodity trading and mining company with headquarters in Baar, Switzerland, and a registered office in Saint Helier, Jersey.
As of 2015, it ranked tenth in the Fortune Global 500 list of the world’s largest companies.
It is the world’s third-largest family business.

The company was formed in 1994 by a management buyout of Marc Rich + Co AG (itself founded in 1974)
The Qatar Investment Authority is its biggest shareholder.

An Australian Public Radio report said, “Glencore’s history reads like a spy novel”.

The company was founded as Marc Rich & Co. AG in 1974 by billionaire commodity trader Marc Rich. Rich was charged in the US with tax evasion and illegal business dealings with Iran, but pardoned by President Bill Clinton in 2001. He was never brought before US courts, so there was never a verdict on these charges.

Maybe the liberal students would be better off demonstrating AGAINST the Obama EPA for the last 8 years. All those cities with polluted unsafe water & the EPA major failure letting mine pollution into local water resources. Then they had the nerve to say they weren’t paying out anything to those damaged. Comrade Nancy Pelosi should be ranting about the Obama EPA BUT when liberal leadership fails big time its nothing but silence & more lies against opponents.

All she can do is label Bannon a white supremacist. Never citing facts. The man is brilliant and is definitely NOT a white supremacist. He is a true American hero and patriot who proudly served seven years in our us military. Pelosi is grasping at straws that don’t exist.
