Harbors on the Coast CLOSED

United States Coast Guard Sector USCG Kaleidoscope

At 9:00 am we heard over the scanner the Coast Guard has closed Humboldt Bay, Crescent City, and Noyo Harbors till further notice because of dangerous conditions. 18 ft to 20 ft waves were reported at the bar in Humboldt Bay!  More than likely the Harbors will open again after this current storm coming in tonight passes through the area.

You can listen to the Coast Guard recording below:

If you going out to the beach or the jetty, watch out for sneaker waves. Stay back from the surf.

The storm rolling in tonight will have sustained winds of 20 to 35 mph with higher gusts of 40 to 50 mph. Eureka can expect 30 to 40 mph gusts. Higher elevations have a Warning wind advisory with winds sustained 25 to 40 mph and gusts of between 50 to 70 mph. Batten down the hatches tonight folks. We will try to keep up with any trees down on roads, closed roads, power lines down and power outages for our readers overnight through to Sunday.
