Vehicle Taken in Carjacking Found Burning Under Van Duzen Bridge

Breaking NewsAt 2:22 a.m. today, a vehicle taken in a carjacking yesterday morning was found burning underneath the Van Duzen Bridge. Although the license plate had been removed, it was quickly identified by the California Highway Patrol as the 1998 Ford Escort taken in a carjacking from the 2900 block of California Street in Eureka about 6:45 a.m. yesterday.

According to Brittany Powell, spokesperson for the Eureka Police Department, The victim of the carjacking reported that multiple individuals had been on the scene when a Hispanic male adult between the ages of 30 to 40-years-old held him up with a knife taking a sum of money. That suspect was 5’9″ and weighed about 170 pounds.

While the one man was taking the victim’s money, another stole the car he was driving and his cell phone. “The second male had tattoos on his face,” said Powell. “The victim know the monikers of the suspects.”

The incident is under investigation, Powell said.

Wow, lucky it didn’t turn out worse. Note to self: never make shady deals with people have tattoos on face! Hope LEO’s catch ’em, seize money, place in Border Wall fund.

A CCW would have taught Jesus that you don’t bring a knife to a gun fight.

It was posted to the story about the guy who shot himself in the….foot? It’s dropped off the “All Recent Posts” column on the right, in red.
Maybe KYM can point out the way to a history of this blog?
KYM: ARE YOU THERE?

It was a comment by “Liz.”
I’d call local gun dealers and hunting clubs…betting the sheriffs would know, too.

I think we can all agree responsibility for all of this falls solely on one person and his name Barack Obama

Why do the police even bother releasing this information?

Why bother even looking for them? Won’t make a fucking difference anyway.

So what, they’ll get overnight stay and be out in the morning to do it all over again.

Is it my imagination, or is the crime around Fortuna and south of Eureka, exponentially expanding out of control?
This entire area is going to hell.
Is it just the local area, or is this completely out of control nationwide ?

Bigger jail that is not happening any time soon ,it is at max capacity .The
cops got nothing else they can do with the inmates instead let’s build a stupid inmate work release reintegration complex that’s on tax payers we need more jail cells sign of the times .need a new complex out at foster farms lp complex tent city work farms .offer rehab to the inmates that want help .just a thought.do the crime do some time on the rock pile.

Had a guest speaker this morning at our weekly meeting here in Fortuna and found out that the jail is housing about a hundred or so State prisoners as part of a ‘realignment’ program through the State. The County doesn’t have a choice, so, that takes up a fourth of the available beds in the jail. This was the first time that I had heard about this. On another note, if you are looking for a facility to get your CCW, check with Kevin at Old West Shootery on 5th St, across from the 5th St. Shell on the North end of 5th. As far as a training program, there is a guy by the name of AJ McVeety who does some training. You can probably contact him through Old West Shootery.

Crazy. Humboldt is supposed to help the state with their problems, when we cant even get our shit in order up here. I doubt any affluent counties have a realignment program.
