[UPDATE 2:11 p.m.: Closed] Slide Blocks Redwood Drive
As of 7:30 a.m., a road crew shut down Redwood Drive between Evergreen and Bear Canyon Road on the Bluffs between Redway and Garberville.
“A big slide came in and there’s a lot more stuff waiting to come down,” said Denton Carrick of Humboldt County Public Works. “We’ll probably have it down for a couple of hours and then just keep our eye on it and see what happens.”
UPDATE 9:02 a.m.: Redwood Drive is now open but be prepared for the slide to come back across.
UPDATE 10:42 a.m.: Redwood is closed again per the California Highway Patrol Incident page.
UPDATE 2:11 p.m.: Redwood Drive is closed.

Redway Drive or Redwood Drive? Your title says different from text.
Fixed
Kym, partly fixed. If you back out from the article, the link to it still says Redway Dr. Thanks
I can’t change how the title appears on the Lost Coast Outpost.
Where’s Redway Drive?
In Redway.
In Twickenham.
I think we all know that Redway Drive does not run from Bear Canyon to Evergreen Road. I automatically made the correction to Redwood Drive because there are no bluffs on Redway Drive.
we’re relatively new here so we don’t know Redway from Redwood….Bear Canyon from Evergreen….so what town is this?
Between Redway and Garberville.
according to kmud caller ettersburg closed with a tree by eburg school…bluffs fell again lol
I think that Redway Drive is the back road in Redway that runs from where Dazey’s Motorcycle store used to be up to the Shell Station. Redwood Drive is the road between Redway and Garberville (also extends to Dean Creek). However, there are a lot of roads in Northern California named Redwood Drive. Most of them are portions of old Hwy 101 that are bypassed by the freeway. If you’re looking for “Redwood Drive”, make sure you know the community in which the particular Redwood Drive you seek is located.
If you want to get technical, Redwood Drive was not the old 101. 101 is a relatively new highway, I think it was completed in this area in the 1960s. Redwood Drive is a section of the Old Redwood Highway (the Avenue of the Giants is also a section of it, as is the road running between the river and 101 btw Dean Cr and Sylvandale. You can find sections of the Old Redwood Highway from ‘way up north all the way down to the Bay Area, if you’re looking.
Believe me, Redwood drive was 101…it is also called the “Redwood Highway” which goes from the Golden Gate Bridge to Grants Pass Oregon. But it was 101, as was the Avenue of the Giants & the Newton Drury Parkway in the Redwood National Park. Oh and 271 in Mendocino county too.
C’mon guys if you’re even remotely local you know what Kym meant. Besides everyone should’ve expected this. Happens every year…
