Just went down to check out the EEL @BENBOW LAKE. Does anyone remember when was the last time the EEL RIVER was on the lawn @ BENBOW LAKE?
Wow that’s a good deal of water.be safe
What exactly are those people being rescued from? I’m guessing each other?
This is bobbi commenting, but yes I do remember the Benbow rec area being totally covered in water, had to be 15 years or so ago though.
Kym, do you know if Briceland thorn road is passable?
At this point it is.
Yes, the New Year’s storm on 1997 flooded the Benbow campground and rec area pretty good. I lived up on top of the ridge above the golf course on East Blue Rock and we were watching whole redwood trees come floating down the river. That was a multi-day storm that dumped something like 18 inches. Claire Trower on Wilder ridge got 12 inches of rain in her gauge on 1/1/97 during that storm.
Can we get from whitethorn to redway, and then north to Fortuna?
Chek briceland road info before you go, with lines down in the road it could be impassable. I’d be more concerned with getting back from the north later today/tonite/tomorrow.
Take food water blankets flashlights etc in your car, and some extra clothes in case you cant get back into your area when you want to return.
And a CHAINSAW
Has anyone driven from town to whitethorn area today? We have Doc app. And need to go.
“Mayb”– Where can we check Briceland road info?!
I don’t see the video or link to the flooding down south -Hwy 101 northbound at Windsor (see video below.) So far the Emerald Counties are experiencing…. is it my phone or am I just blind?
At this point i would call kmud, i dont know how quickly county road website is being updated, kym/bobbi do you know and could you post the best link to check?
Anyone interested in conditions in Lake Co. should go to http://www.lakeconews.com. The lake itself is huge and only about half full, but lots of local flooding from creeks, culverts, saturated ground, etc. Some folks in the Hidden Valley Lake area are being evacuated.
Is sprowel crk road open yet?
Power in Weott area is at about half voltage…
A brown out. Lights – dimly, small computers, but no heat, fans. Like when the batteries are almost dead…
Go earth smack them humans good! She’s mad and trump even isn’t in office yet. Can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!
