Chains people, chains. Put them on before you get stuck!
No, the county specifically said “chairs” are required. No doubt necessary for comfort after one spins out on an icy road.
Rocking chairs for when you want to ski-daddle down the road!
As of 10:22 it is snowing in Hydesville. Beautiful way to start a New Year
Snowed overnight on Murray and 101, I wondered why the rain sounded funny! It’s melted on the street, but our side yards have a good dusting of white. Glad I don’t have to drive in it, I’m an experienced snow driver, but I’m not the only one on the road.
Nice 2″ dusting at 1500′ in Piercy. Good day to stay off the roads. Snowing right now.
At our house in Benbow about 10 AM
How do you attach a photo to a comment?
I am attaching a photo with a circle around the area that you need to click. Then, after you click, a popup will show that will let you chose which photo you want off your computer. (You may have to reduce the size of the image. Easiest is to load to Facebook and then download from there. You lose a little quality though.)
Hello,
I will be traveling to Humboldt county from Fort Bragg, is there chains required.
We are on South Fork Mtn, 1700ft below the pass on hwy 36 and have 10 inches piled up. I would check CalTrans to see if it is plowed if you are going that way.
Is Fort Dick the 1st military installation to be named after the pres. elect?
No, the outgoing president.
I think Roy had it right, Right. On.
Absolutely so, Roy hit the nail squarely on the head with that question!!! But I don’t think it was, it was already named that sadly when A$$wipe was elected!!! :-C
Ah Roy thank you, thats the best, made me laugh out loud 🙂
Carry chains. Drive slower than you want to go. Be very careful after dark as the temps are going to be below freezing. Ice is worse than snow.
Photo on Fruitland Ridge at 11 am on 1/2/17.
Beautiful photo! May I use it for a post if I need it? If so would you write me an email at [email protected]
nice picture
Snowing pretty heavy in Benbow at 1:30
all that perdy white dangerous stuff and not a drop at my place in clearlake ( YET )
take care and safe travels
Just got the ATV stuck in 18 inches of fresh powder at 3500ft on South Fork Mtn. Forecast was a bit off.
Snow everywhere in Alderpoint (elevation about 450 feet). Can’t see the Alderpoint road well, but there does not appear to be snow on the Eel River Bridge. There certainly is on our driveway, however. The temperature is about 36 degrees, and the snow is melting but each new snow shower seems to add to the total on the ground. The forecast, which had been for a hard freeze has moderated quite a bit and it is not expected to freeze at all in Alderpoint itself this week. Nor will it get very warm. Showers till Tuesday night rain, and Wednesday rain likely, so I would expect the Alderpoint road to be risky, especially at night. Good week to stay home, which is what I hope to do.
Trying to find current info for the active slide on Maple Creek Road just east of Blue Lake. Anyone know?
As of 12:51 p.m. today, County Roads was saying one lane was open.
Just stay home.bless you all
just got back from 101 north, crescent city and back to mckinleyville. Road is clear of snow and 2WDable. But will certainly freeze to nite.
