18-Year-Old Arrested for Attempted Homicide

This is a release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On Monday, November 21, 2016 at about 11:30 a.m. the Hoopa Valley Tribal Police Department received a report of shots fired at a vehicle on Bair Rd in Hoopa.  HVTPD Officers spoke with the male victim.  The male victim stated he was sitting in his vehicle when suspect Daniel Pratt, Jr. (18 years old) drove up to his vehicle in a white SUV, exited his vehicle with a firearm and fired several shots into the air.  Pratt brandished an additional handgun and demanded the victim hand over all of his stuff.  The victim began to drive away and Pratt fired shots into the victim’s vehicle.  No one was injured during this incident.

A Be-On-the-Lookout (BOLO) was issued for Pratt by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office for attempted murder, attempted robbery, shooting at an inhabited dwelling/vehicle, and vandalism.

Later that day, HVTPD Officers and Humboldt County Deputy Sheriffs located Pratt at a residence on River Rd in Hoopa.  Pratt was arrested without incident.  He was taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for attempted murder, attempted robbery, shooting at an inhabited dwelling/vehicle, and vandalism.  His bail was set at $500,000.

Anyone with information for the Sheriff’s Office regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office Trinity River Division at 530-629-1025.

  • What is going on up in hupa .the kids life is over

  • Where were we parked, and was Pratt after jewelry and cds?

  • A lot of ripoffs happening out that way the last few years. Or always.

  • A piece of Scum he is .

  • Ok if we have all these new cops, why would you not put a few more their for awhile and help get things under control?just wondering because it’s seems with no law everyone is shooting each other.

    • You think cops are always going to be at the right place at the right time? More cops will not solve anything. Home is where this starts, schools are the secondary element, which contains friends as influences, and their issues also start at home. This is a community problem, and not one that additional law enforcement can stop.

  • No I don’t think their Johnny on the spot, but maybe their presence might help.for Christ’s sake they have nothing,no protection at all.so having nothing is obviously a problem.just saying not picking.
